Reporting to the Director of Product Management, the Data Scientist (Real World Data & Evidence Solutions and Implementation) will be responsible for ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery of Ontada’s data products. This role will involve building, implementing and scaling the data and analytics pipeline & product base to obtain, analyze, package and validate Onatada’s proprietary Real World Data, Analytics and Insights products. The role will also work on tooling and processes for continuous quality improvement, and on implementation and hardening of innovative new developments in Ontada’s Real World Evidence offerings.
This position will also require strong collaboration across key internal stakeholders including the Ontada data foundations, data engineering, analytics end-users, and clinical subject matter experts.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery of all data products to our customers.
- Development and implementation of data assets, tooling, and pipelines to deliver Ontada’s data products in a scalable and efficient manner.
- Implementing new innovations in data analytics and insights and scaling them for delivery across our customer base.
- Designing, developing, documenting, and performing data quality and validation across all data products assets for Life Sciences. These include patient-level data feeds, summarized reports and dashboards, and real-time alerts and dashboards.
- Collaborate with data engineers and product teams to troubleshoot and resolve gaps and issues in our data and implement corrective actions.
- Maintaining an in-depth understanding of the strengths and limitations of our data.
- Working with developers, team members and other departments as needed, throughout the development cycle to ensure product success.
Minimum Requirement
- Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience.
Education
- BS degree or higher in computer science, math, statistics, data analytics, or equivalent.
Critical Skills
- 4+ years of experience in building scalable data and analytics pipelines for longitudinal patient-level healthcare data. Oncology data experience preferred.
- Proven hands-on experience in analyzing large, longitudinal, patient-level datasets. Experience in analyzing EMR / EHR data strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with typical issues and pitfalls in real-world clinical data.
- Proven experience in investigating quality issues in healthcare data, identifying root causes, and proposing solutions.
- Hands-on experience in hardening, standardizing, and scaling data science solutions and codebase. Experience in leading data modeling, schema design, and data storage best practices
Additional Skills
- Expertise in SQL and Python (moderate to advanced), along with experience in implementing in Databricks or similar cloud platforms preferred.
- Familiarity with designing and developing with distributed data processing platforms like Spark and pipeline orchestration tools like Airflow a plus.
- Familiarity with GitHub and able to review code updates.
- Familiarity with Atlassian tools like JIRA for reporting/tracking data issues and Confluence for documentation
- Comfort with ambiguity and ability to test multiple approaches to quickly iterate to a solution, under minimal supervision
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and aptitude to learn new technologies as required.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a keen attention to detail commitment to delivering high-quality results.
