Job Summary
Reporting to the Vice President of Biopharma Product Innovation & Analytics, the Senior Director, Specialty Health Data Solutions plays a critical leadership role in advancing the data and analytics strategy for McKesson Canada’s Specialty Health business unit. This position is responsible for driving the development and execution of comprehensive data solutions, encompassing the full lifecycle of data assets—from acquisition and governance to analytics, delivery, and product innovation.
As the business unit accelerates its data commercialization efforts, the Senior Director will be instrumental in enabling cross-functional collaboration, championing key initiatives, and serving as a strategic voice for Specialty Health. This role requires a visionary leader who can shape long-term objectives, influence enterprise-wide priorities, and ensure the organization remains at the forefront of data-driven innovation.
Location: 2300 Meadowvale Blvd, Mississauga, ON
Work Arrangement: This is a hybrid position requiring candidates to work on-site at least 2 days per week at our designated office location. The remaining days may be worked remotely, subject to team and business needs.
Specific Responsibilities
- An inspiring and seasoned visionary, able to identify strategic and innovative opportunities for advanced data solutions as well as AI use case opportunities within the biopharma industry and paint a compelling picture of how our organization will successfully capture them.
- An effective analyst and critical thinker, able to leverage disparate data from multiple sources in decision making leading towards internal efficiencies, as well as benefits to our customers.
- Aware of advanced analytics, AI and general data/analytics trends in the healthcare industry as well amongst competitor offerings and other McKesson business units.
- Result oriented with strong focus on user experience including – internal employees, patients, manufacturers, health care provider, strategic partners experience.
- An experienced people manager, able to guide and engage team members at multiple levels as well as within matrix teams.
- Current on relevant compliance and legislative requirements within the healthcare/patient data environment
General Responsibilities
- Formulate and execute long-range strategies for solution delivery, innovation and enablement within the following portfolios: Data product portfolio for Patient Support Programs and McKesson Specialized Distribution, Internal Specialty Health analytics, and Specialty Health commercial data solutions.
- Becoming a domain expert in each area and advocate for the patient, manufacturer, provider, payer and employee experience within the scope of data solutions and services.
- Comfortably navigate between big picture and ambiguity to an execution-driven focus in leading a team towards delivering on priorities.
- Leading a team of managers, analysts, and report developers in delivering and evolving diverse data solutions within the scope of the Specialty Health business.
- Provide strategic thought leadership and direction to drive activities across multiple support teams within McKesson Canada to deliver data products and solutions.
- Drive and manage data governance and compliance requirements within Specialty Health as well as supporting enterprise governance mandates.
- Lead and manage complex transformation projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Utilize cross-functional internal and external resources to deliver projects and data product evolution.
- Analyzing strengths and weaknesses of our data/analytics portfolio and market alternatives to determine which capabilities would be the most impactful from a customer's perspective.
- Identifying actions to improve the competitive posture of our products/services through differentiation and innovation.
- Provide input and strategic direction to product design/UX design/process.
- Balance both business requests/needs and business value in prioritization and resolve internal competitive requirements within the organization.
- Participate in RFP presentations in partnership with business development team when required.
- Through collaboration across the business verticals, ensure the effective creation and launch of new data products and services to support insights driven business transformation.
- Define goals and KPIs. Progress and further develop a dashboard on key metrics that ladder up to overall quarterly and yearly goals.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree at the least (MBA preferred by not mandatory).
- 8+ years of professional experience in data/BI/technology related fields.
- 5+ years of experience in a management / people leader role.
Key Competencies
- Background in Canadian Healthcare is preferred, particularly within Biopharma industry.
- Demonstrated ability to influence strategic decisions that have a significant impact on the organization’s long-term success.
- Influence change and growth strategies for Specialty Health through innovative data and advanced analytics solutions.
- Demonstrated success in defining and building data solutions, including the creation and launch of new data offerings, advanced analytics and AI solutions within the context of the Canadian Biopharma/healthcare industry.
- Demonstrated competencies in leading business case development.
- Direct experience with executive presence and influencing business decisions.
- Business acumen, including a deep understanding of the economics of commercial data product development.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, both in building teams and influencing business direction.
- Experience managing and/or mentoring teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences at various hierarchical levels
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to build relationships and collaborate across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Demonstrated proficiency in effectively promoting and persuading the adoption of concepts and ideas within leadership of large complex organization with multiple decision makers and business units.
- Ability to persevere and execute an entrepreneurial mindset within a highly structured environment.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
