Director of Sales - Independent Pharmacy Network
Edmonton, Canada, Calgary, Canada, Vancouver, Canada, Canada, Canada Job ID JR0126888 Category Sales Management (SIP Eligible), Marketing & Sales Post Date Mar. 13, 2025Reporting to the Senior Director, Business Development, Sales & Member Experience, the Director of Sales will be responsible for leading and executing strategic sales initiatives and vision within the McKesson Independent Retail Banner Network. This role requires a highly experienced professional with a proven track record in business development, sales, and coaching, particularly within the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, exceptional communication abilities, and a deep understanding of pharmacy and retail business operations.
Leadership and Management
- Lead and mentor a diverse team, fostering a trust-based, inclusive work environment.
- Attract, onboard, and develop talent to enhance team efficiency, productivity and performance.
- Set and communicate clear goals and provide regular feedback to team members to drive performance and career development.
- Lead, train, mentor and develop account team members to achieve superior performance and team engagement.
- Monitor and evaluate the account management team activities to ensure they meet established goals and performance metrics.
- Identify and execute an ongoing Individual development Plan (IDP) for self and direct reports.
Strategic Planning, Execution and Collaboration
- Execute functional strategies to achieve key business objectives.
- Drive implementation and utilization of the Guardian/l.D.A./Remedy’sRx/Enterprise programs.
- Collaborate with internal teams such as Marketing, Category Management, Customer Care, Finance, Communications, Professional Affairs and Legal to align strategy and activities.
- Provide direction, deploy resources, and integrate activities across multiple stakeholders to achieve organizational growth goals.
- Coordinate member and account team feedback while collaborating with internal stakeholders to continuously enhance the member experience.
- Monitor and track KPl's, identify opportunities and create action plans for improvement.
- Work closely with the Senior Director to develop strategies and ensure effective communication and execution with the account team and pharmacies.
- Lead projects, from conception to implementation that create or improve programs, resources and processes.
- Support Member Events and Conferences as required.
- Support the execution of business objectives, tactics and action plans.
- Renew Contract agreements on an as needed basis.
- Build and nurture long-term relationships with key stakeholders and industry leaders, positioning the business as a partner of choice.
Educational Background:
- Degree or diploma in a relevant discipline; Business preferred.
Professional Experience:
- Minimum of 5+ years of comparable professional experience within the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry.
- Experience in a leadership role and/or multi-unit management considered an asset.
- Proven track record in business development and sales.
- Understanding of pharmacy and the business of pharmacy in Canada.
- Functional knowledge of pharmacy business operations considered an asset.
Technical Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of MS Office products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams).
- Experience with digital tools such as Salesforce, PowerBI, and SAP is an asset.
- Knowledge of process and project management.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with experience presenting to groups of various sizes.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with all internal and external stakeholders.
Leadership and Management Skills:
- Demonstrated leadership ability and excellent partnering skills.
- Experience in negotiation, financial management, and navigating business development cycles.
- Performance management skills and experience.
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Attention to detail, with an ability to summarize and manage complex issues.
- Strong business acumen and analytical skills with an ability to see the big picture.
- Professionalism and experience in dealing with a high-demand business environment.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid Canadian Driver's License.
- Ability to travel nationally (35%).
