Job Summary:

The Senior Category Manager for Marketing and Meetings & Events will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for marketing and Meeting and Events categories. This role requires a deep understanding of market dynamics, supplier capabilities, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including senior leaders. The successful candidate will be influential in driving change, promoting best practices, and providing thought leadership to achieve cost savings, improve service quality, and enhance supplier performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Sourcing: Develop and implement category sourcing strategies to achieve costsavings, quality improvements, and risk mitigation for marketing, advertising, print, and meeting categories
  • Marketing Services Ownership: Own and manage the Marketing Services Category, including agencies, print, retail, and promotional goods, with an annual spend of $100M.
  • Meetings and Events Category Ownership: Oversee preferred suppliers for meetings and events, including tradeshows, event management, and production & AV, with an annual spend of $20M.
  • RFx Management and Execution: Lead sourcing events, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all RFx activities, creating business case recommendations and partnering with stakeholders to make final decision on supplier selection
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead complex negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions, including pricing, service levels, and performance metrics.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market analysis to stay informed about industry trends, emerging suppliers, and best practices.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management: Build and nurture strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including senior leaders, to understand business needs, align sourcing strategies, and ensure effective communication and implementation.
  • Influencing and Driving Change: Employ best practices and thought leadership to influence stakeholders and drive change across the organization, ensuring the adoption of innovative sourcing strategies.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation plans to ensure continuity of supply and compliance with McKesson and Sourcing and Procurement policies and regulations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement process to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Team Collaboration and Support: serve as a resource and mentor for team members with less experience.
  • Forecasting Excellence: Drive forecasting excellence through continuous 18-month forecasting of all projects.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in procurement, with experience in Marketing Technology, Marketing, Advertising, Print, or Customer Packaging categories

 Skills:

  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Proven ability to manage supplier relationships and drive performance improvements.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and drive change within an organization.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$103,400 - $172,400
