Job Summary

The Regional Director, Continuous Improvement & Engineering leads a team that drives continuous improvement in all areas of operations. The DRL works with multiple departments to develop, implement, and deploy operational processes and best practices in facilities across the Region. This position will assist the Operations Team, National Engineering Team, IT and Quality departments in special reengineering or new projects, as necessary.

Section A – Specific Responsibilities

Process Improvement

  • Drives operational process improvements to achieve dramatic improvement in key business metrics of safety, customer experience, compliance, productivity, cost and employee development / engagement

  • Works with DCs leadership Team to conduct assessments of critical site and business needs. Actively partners with process owners to ensure results delivered / future state achieved and ability to connect the dots in the Operations function and ensures business priorities come first.

  • Leads regular DC Management Review meetings and provides regular reports of data, metrics and actions to measure progress against the DCs objectives.

  • Develops a thorough effective and timely continuous improvement plan to address top business needs.

  • Identifies innovative solutions to solve operational inefficiencies

  • Applies company methodologies and engineering methodologies/tools such as product slotting, studying labor standards (time studies), layouts and optimization of flow, data profiling and analysis, and resource modeling to improve DC operations.

  • Develops Work Measurement standards and analyzes data to determine required and optimal resources and / or MHE based on volume and standards.

  • Provides continuous improvement expertise across the network and implement industry best practices (Value Stream Maps, DMAIC workshops, Kaizen events, 5S, Lean)

  • Identifies risks and opportunities for improvement by monitoring DCs’ performance

  • Develops, owns, and communicates the Distribution Center (DC) Industrial Engineering KPIs and project roadmap.

  • Leads and drives programs and projects to improve operational effectiveness and financial performance including lean and operational excellence initiatives.

  • Identifies, analyzes, and interprets trends or patterns and problematic areas using statistical techniques and suggest improvements in complex data sets for the Region or a specific DC.

Engineering projects

  • DC Design – provides detailed DC design including requirements for retrofit, racking layout and elevation, office locations, data drops, MHE selection, parking

  • Analyzes data to determine required / optimal storage environment / design / layout

  • Channel and DC alignment support for DC start-up; works cross functionally to ensure that items are aligned appropriately to DCs and/or Channels based on throughput, SKU and storage capacities.

  • Analyzes facility capacity and utilization trends for future planning needs.

  • Ensures projects are executed effectively with the appropriate buy-in from all levels of management and team members. Identify and quantify cost savings to all continuous improvement

  • Performs financial analysis to assemble business cases, cost justifications and requests.

  • Engages with McKesson Canada and US networks to share best practices.

Section B – Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (operations, logistics, supply chain)

  • Experience in a similar position

  • Project management experience

  • Understanding and experience in warehousing and distribution – key asset

  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification – preferred

  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects (properly allocate resources, manage cost, set strategies, and deliver according to timelines)

  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; proactive nature and willingness to challenge existing processes and propose new solutions

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively source information, obtain approvals, build relationships, and provide sufficient influence to achieve success

  • Able to work under minimum supervision and act as a team player

  • Knowledge and understanding of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs)

  • Fluent in French or English. Bilingualism - an asset

  • Ability to work on various shifts to accommodate distribution center needs

  • Travel within the region required -approximately 30% of the time.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$115,100 - $191,900
