Position Summary:
Serves as a strategic partner for the distribution center leader and operations managers as to plan, lead, and coordinate continuous improvement initiatives within the entire DC.
Drives operational excellence by leading internal quality audits and establishing/improving on standard operating processes. Will drive process consistency to best practices, enhance customer satisfaction and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements / company key objectives. This leader will lead/improve current onboarding/training program for all new hires while implementing improvement initiatives for our existing team. This leader will also lead current trainers that help with not only on-boarding but also continuous training for improvement. This leader will also ensure that all state licenses are accurate and keep the facility prepared at all times for any regulatory or compliance audit.
JOB FAMILY SUMMARY:
- Responsible for the operational activities of a variety of functional departments, distribution center(s), or facility(ies).
- Reviews and analyzes reports, records and directives, and confers with managers/ supervisors to obtain data required for planning activities, such as new commitments, status of work in progress, and problems encountered.
- May be responsible for one or more of the following activities related to the receiving, storing, and/ or shipping of materials or finished goods.
- May be responsible for ensuring materials are received from proper vendors, delivered to inventory and finished goods, are available to meet production schedules, packaged according to specification and shipped in a timely manner.
- Ensures the security and accountability of materials and goods with inventory control.
- May evaluate current procedures and practices for accomplishing department objectives and develop and implement improved procedures and practices.
- Gives work direction, resolves problems, and sets deadlines to ensure timely completion of work.
- Monitors and analyzes costs and prepares budgets.
CAREER LEVEL DESCRIPTION:
- Managing personnel responsible for operational excellence, continuous improvement, training, audit readiness, compliance and special projects.
- Development of a continuous improvement culture which: utilizes Lean Six Sigma tools and methodology to solve problems; established data driven measurements and goals; generates ongoing awareness of current Op Ex performance; fosters involvement of leaders and team members to actively propose solutions to improve service levels.
- Implement process controls to reduce variation and create process consistency. Develop and manage a DC training program and a project team to improve efficiency and standardize processes to best practice.
MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY/SCOPE:
- Enhance customer satisfaction levels through investigations of concerns to root cause and communicating the investigation findings, corrective and preventative actions taken through Op Ex Reports / Corrective Action Reports.
- Conducts presentations of technical information concerning specific projects/schedules (Temperature Monitoring, CIP Documentation & Op Ex program rollouts).
- Provide direction for maintaining compliance to government requirements (FDA, OSHA) and regulatory requirements (McKesson safety, security, regulatory assessments).
MANAGEMENT IMPACT:
- Decision will impact the direct workgroup, and failures to achieve may impact medium-term goals and deadlines of department.; For Infusion/Medical businesses - Decisions or erroneous actions can moderately affect or in a significant manner a patient's well-being. Decisions or erroneous actions can minimally affect the well-being of multiple patients.
JOB COMPLEXITY:
- Decisions and problem solving are generally guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives general guidance and oversight from manager in the form of work objectives, but typically leads independently Interacts daily with direct reports and/or functional peer groups.
- Interaction normally involves exchange or presentation of factual information.
- Communicates departmental goals to workgroup; Within Sales function, supports employees with customer relations issues and key negotiations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree or equivalent experience. Typically requires 9+ years of professional experience and 1+ years of supervisory and/or management experience.
Additional Qualifications:
- Advanced computer skills including typical office suite programs
- Deep understanding of how departments within a distribution center function and their interdependencies
- Solid knowledge of lean sigma methodologies required (Six Sigma Black or Green Belt preferred)
- Must be willing to work various hours in a 24/7 operational warehouse
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to see the “big picture”
- Ability to investigate issues to root cause and develop safeguards from event(s) occurring again
- Passion and commitment to continuous improvement with demonstrated success in leading and influencing team members
- Must be a positive change leader with strong interpersonal skills
- Proactively identifying potential issues to prevent their occurrence
- Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Healthcare industry experience
- 3+ years of leadership experience
- Familiarity with compliance requirements (FDA/OSHA/BOP)
- Experience with automation and workflow management systems (JD Edwards, QC Software, etc.)
- Business Analytics and Change Implementation Experience
- Supply Chain Knowledge and Experience
- Lean or Six Sigma Certified
Physical Requirements:
- General office demands
- Position includes standing, sitting, walking in a warehouse environment
- Must be able to carry and operate a laptop

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
