The Data Scientist role will support the development of advanced analytic solutions across McKesson. Our team applies data science methodologies to interdisciplinary business problems across Finance, Operations, Accounting, & Supply Chain. The position’s objectives are:
- Develop machine learning solutions to support new business initiatives across the different business units. Types of projects would be supporting driverless forecasting systems, supply chain optimization and building machine learning models.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including other data scientists, engineers, and product managers, to deliver end-to-end machine learning solutions.
Analytic Responsibilities
- Perform advanced analytics functions (e.g., XGBoost, SVM, Random Forest, Cluster Analysis, etc.) to create insights that in turn provide meaningful results.
- Design and implement algorithms for object detection, recognition, and tracking, natural language processing (NLP), text generation, and language translation.
- Leverage techniques like Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) to align LLMs to specific use cases.
- Develop inventory optimization / multi-echelon simulation framework for supply chain. That includes building time series models leveraging techniques such as Sarima, Prophet, Holt-Winters, Transformers.
- Extract, analyze, and interpret large volumes of structured and unstructured data from various sources.
- Design and execute experiments to test hypotheses and validate models.
- Collaborate with Engineering team to automate machine learning models by developing comprehensive documentation (e.g. coding, workbooks, etc.).
- Build prototypes for fast delivery to understand different business solutions.
- Work within an agile framework
- Develop an A/B testing framework by conducting hypothesis-driven tests to enhance products and services.
- Familiarity with data engineering concepts such as data ingestion, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load), and data modeling to ensure efficient data pipelines in Databricks.
- Proficiency in Databricks, including experience with Databricks notebooks, clusters, and job scheduling as a plus
Other Responsibilities
- Present findings and insights to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Cultivate business development opportunities.
- Assist in developing and maintaining long-term stakeholder relationships and networks.
Minimum Job Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience. Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as: Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Finance, Economics or related quantitative / STEM majors. Master’s and/or PhD preferred.
- 3+ years data science / analytics / programming experience based on combination of industry and academic experience preferred
- 3+ years of experience in any of the following: Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, Python
- Strong SQL skills
- Proven experience with MLOps processes
- Demonstrated ability to tackle problems across the full data stack, from data wrangling (leveraging SQL or other methodologies) to stakeholder consumption at scale.
- Hands on experience in statistical methods and machine learning with special emphasis on SVM, gradient boosting, k-means, reinforcement learning and multi-variate testing.
- Strong grasp of fundamental statistical concepts: linear regression, A/B testing, outlier analysis, probability distributions, tests for independence, etc.
- Clean, transform, and preprocess large-scale datasets in the Cloud.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Creative thinker and problem solver – ability to design new ideas and message concepts that meet business objectives.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

- Traditional office environment.
Physical Requirements (Lifting, standing, etc.) –
- Large percent of time performing computer based work is required.
Travel (Team meetings, conferences, site visits, etc) –
- Up to 20%

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
