The Azure Data Engineer will support the migration of critical on-premises MMS applications and databases to Azure. The role involves building scalable, secure data pipelines and developing cloud-native solutions that drive insights and analytics. The engineer will collaborate with the Data & Advanced Analytics team, focusing on ELT modernization, data pipeline orchestration, and compliance with McKesson MMS standards and Madillion architecture. Here’s an overview of their responsibilities, required skills, and tools they commonly use:

Key Responsibilities:

Data Ingestion:

• Building pipelines to extract data from multiple sources (on-premises, cloud, or APIs).
• Utilizing tools like Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Pipelines, or Databricks.

Data Transformation:

• Experience with traditional ETL tools (such as DataStage, Informatica etc) and ability to translate them to cloud based solutions.
• Leveraging tools like Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).

Data Storage:

• • Designing and managing data storage solutions using Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB, or Synapse Analytics.

Data Security & Compliance:

•  Ensuring data is secure by implementing encryption, access controls, and data governance aligned with HIPAA, GDPR and internal policies.

Big Data & Analytics:

•  Implementing big data solutions using Apache Spark, Databricks, and Synapse Analytics for advanced analytics.
• Integrating with Azure Machine Learning or Power BI for insights.

Real-Time Data Processing:

•  Working with tools like Azure Stream Analytics, Event Hubs, and IoT Hub for real-time data ingestion and processing.

Monitoring and Optimization:

•  Optimizing pipelines for cost and performance.
•  Monitoring workflows and systems using Azure Monitor or Log Analytics.

Minimum Requirements- Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.

Critical Skills:

•  Proficiency in Python, SQL, and possibly Scala or Java for Spark jobs.
• Azure Databricks: Apache Spark-based analytics platform.
• Designing star schemas, snowflake schemas, and other data models.
•  Strong understanding of Azure services like Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, and more.
• Familiarity with Snowflake architecture, data sharing and performance tuning. 
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and version control for data workflows.
• Problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration with business stakeholders.

Nice to have:

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203): Covers data storage, processing, security, and integration.
•  Databricks Unity catalog:  covers centralized access control, auditing, lineage and data discovery.
• Azure Data Factory (ADF): Orchestrates data workflows.
• Azure Synapse Analytics: Unifies data integration, warehousing, and analytics.
• Azure Data Lake: Stores large-scale data securely.
• Azure SQL Database: Relational database for structured data.
• Event Hubs / Stream Analytics: Handles real-time streaming data.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
