Title: Director - HR Strategy & Governance

Location: Dallas, Texas (Preferred)

Other locations: Atlanta, GA; Columbus, OH; Richmond, VA

Position Description
The McKesson HR Strategy & Governance Team is seeking a proactive and visionary Director to lead HR strategic programs and initiatives. A successful candidate will enjoy being part of a strategic team and partnering with a wide range of stakeholders in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The Director will play a vital role in shaping the strategic vision for the McKesson Human Resources team and report to the Sr Director, HR Strategy and Governance.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and Implement HR Programs: Lead the development and implementation of HR programs that align with McKesson's overall business objectives. Ensure these programs drive organizational effectiveness and support long-term goals.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with senior leadership and key stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for HR programs.
  • External Practice Curiosity and Application: Possess the ability to leverage external trends and research to inform internal strategy, staying ahead of industry developments and integrating best practices and innovative solutions. Demonstrate curiosity and an initiative-taking approach to identifying and applying external insights to drive organizational success.

Program Oversight

  • Strategic Programs Management: Provide oversight and direction for multiple HR strategic initiatives. Ensure programs align with the overall HR strategy and business objectives.
  • Resource Allocation: Ensure that programs and execution elements are adequately resourced, encompassing task prioritization and assignment, supplemental resource engagement, and execution management.
  • Identify, source and effectively mobilize necessary tools and support (teams, vendors) necessary to succeed. Identify risk and proactively recommend solutions to team / stakeholders.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor the performance of strategic programs and initiatives. Develop plans for corrective action when needed and ensure programs stay on track.

Communication and Coordination

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Facilitate collaboration across various teams and departments. Ensure that HR programs are integrated with broader organizational goals and strategies. Partner with Corporate Communications to ensure consistent messaging.

HR Meeting Design and Management

  • Meeting Strategy: Develop and execute a strategic method for HR meetings that align with organizational goals and enhance decision-making.
  • Agenda Development: Oversee the development of meeting agendas for organization-wide HR meetings, ensuring they are focused, relevant, and aligned with our HR strategic initiatives.
  • Meeting Facilitation: Lead the facilitation of large organization-wide HR meetings, ensuring smooth execution and effective participation from all stakeholders.
  • Post-Meeting Follow-Up: Ensure timely follow-up on action items and distribution of meeting content. Monitor the implementation of decisions made during meetings.
  • Technology and Resources: Leverage technology solutions to enhance meeting effectiveness, including scheduling, resource allocation, collaboration tools and mediums of content delivery.

Data, Analytics and AI

  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize data and analytics to inform strategic decisions. Develop metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of HR programs and drive continuous improvement.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Provide regular reports and analysis to senior leadership on the progress and impact of HR programs. Use data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • AI / Automation Centric: demonstrate proficiency with automation and AI. Proven experience in leveraging AI or automation to address challenges or drive initiatives. Capable of identifying suitable risk thresholds and comfortable with experimentation

Qualifications

  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in HR strategy, project/program management, or related fields. Proven track record of leading strategic initiatives and driving organizational change.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and management skills. Ability to influence and engage senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and develop long-term plans that align with organizational goals.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present complex ideas succinctly and tailor communication to varied audiences.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to use data to drive decision-making and measure the impact of initiatives.
  • Adaptability: Ability to navigate complex organizational structures and adapt to changing priorities and circumstances.

To be successful in this role you must be able to:

  • Drive Strategic Vision: Develop and implement a strategic vision for HR that aligns with McKesson's business objectives.
  • Build Trusted Partnerships: Establish and maintain trusted relationships with senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Lead Change: Drive organizational change and ensure HR programs support long-term goals.
  • Utilize Data: Use data and analytics to inform strategic decisions and measure the impact of initiatives.
  • Communicate Effectively: Present complex ideas clearly and effectively to different audiences.
  • Design Effective Meetings: Strategically design and manage HR meetings to ensure they are productive, focused, and aligned with organizational goals.
  • Adaptability and Ambiguity: Expected to deliver results despite unexpected changes in course, dates, and ideas. Flexibility and resilience are key to driving output and ensuring successful outcomes. Demonstrates curiosity, tenacity, and resilience.
  • Action Oriented Problem Solving: Ability to breakdown complex initiatives into discrete tasks, effectively prioritize and deliver with autonomy.

We are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson as part of our Total Rewards. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$134,900 - $224,800
