Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all payroll tax related governmental, regulatory, and legislative requirements through quarterly balancing of payroll tax filings and tax jurisdictions through researching and resolving differences with taxing agencies; collecting refunds when applicable.  Ensuring accurate employee wage and tax statements (W2’s)
  • Prepares the W2C documentation and completes W2C spreadsheet for any tax related issues including but not limited to tax incompliance, multi-state employees, address changes, transfers and payroll tax election changes.  Processes wage and tax adjustments to state income tax withholding, state unemployment, federal, FICA, locals, etc.  Research prior quarter and prior year entries and adjustments, working closely with the Senior Payroll Tax Analyst. 
  • Ensures compliance with all payroll tax related governmental, regulatory, and legislative requirements at the employee level through tax election set ups for new hires, transfers, job changes and regular audits in Workday.
  • Responsible for the research and follow up on agency notices, W-2C’s and related correspondence and notifications to and from government agencies. Provides guidance on Power of Attorney forms, updating contact and mailing information with agencies, ADP, Equifax, internal and external customers to the Payroll Tax Coordinator. Typically working with moderate guidance.
  • Handles the entries associated with the quarterly error and adjustment reports needed for quarterly processing.  Entering wage and tax adjustments into Workday for W-2 Error report, Negative Wage and Tax report, Employee Visa related issues, state reciprocal issues, working closely with the Senior Payroll Tax Analyst.
  • Responsible for Visa tax requirement compliance including but not limited to obtaining required supporting documentation, processing wage and tax adjustments and communication with the customer.
  • Responsible for the set up and maintenance associated with state reciprocal agreements through regular audits validating home and work location tax set up, researching, and providing tax election changes to Tax Coordinator for entry through regularly scheduled audits.
  • Provides accurate and timely resolution for moderately complex payroll tax related discrepancies regarding paycheck earnings and deduction taxation, W2 explanations, payroll tax related escalations, military exemptions, etc.
  • Contributes to Mergers & Acquisitions projects through providing new account set ups, bank forms, authorization forms, guidance on Power of Attorney and other misc. forms to the Tax Coordinator for completion.  Responsible for ensuring set up of final M&A information has been completed.
  • Back up support for logging, scanning and uploading all incoming and outgoing mail, as well as the Payroll Tax Mailbox.
  • Responsible for the Tax Mailbox, supporting case management system by providing resolutions to an assortment of problems of moderately complex scope, using judgement within defined practices and procedures.Entering W-4 entries and tax allocations according to incoming email notifications, job changes, transfers and business processes.

  • Minimum Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):

    Education/Training –

  • Degree or equivalent and typically requires 2+ years of payroll tax experience
  • 2+ years in payroll tax compliance focused in USA in a large multistate environment
  • Knowledge of Workday and ADP SmartCompliance preferred
  • Ability to manage and prioritize various responsibilities with competing, short deadlines
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Very strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Customer-orientated with strong ability for trouble-shooting and issue resolution
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Outlook and Word

  • Large percent of time performing computer based work is required.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$56,600 - $94,300
