Job Summary
The Operational Excellence Specialist is responsible for advancing McKesson Specialty Health’s performance through the application of Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies. This role focuses on identifying inefficiencies, implementing solutions, and fostering a culture of operational excellence to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall quality and stakeholder satisfaction.
Specific Responsibilities
- Identify, plan, and execute initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality.
- Facilitate the implementation of Lean tools such as 5S, process mapping, value stream mapping, and root cause analysis.
- Analyze current processes to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement new processes or refine existing ones to improve workflow and performance.
- Collect and analyze data to measure the success of improvement initiatives.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular reports to stakeholders.
- Use data to drive decision-making and demonstrate ROI on improvement projects.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement by educating and engaging employees at all levels.
- Act as a change agent to foster acceptance of new processes and ideas.
- Facilitate workshops, kaizen events, and training sessions to educate employees on Lean, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence practices.
- Mentor teams and individuals in the application of continuous improvement tools and techniques.
- Serve as a resource for coaching and problem-solving.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders to drive collaboration and achieve project goals.
- Standardize processes and share documented best practices across the organization.
- Identify opportunities for leverage Process Automation and other digital solutions to enhance efficiencies and quality.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in continuous improvement, Lean Six Sigma, or operational excellence roles.
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification is required.
Key Competencies
- Proven track record of leading and implementing successful process improvement initiatives.
- Additional certifications (e.g., PMP, Agile, or equivalent) are a plus.
- Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, Power BI).
- Familiarity working with Digital tools and Process Automation capabilities
- Ability to lead, influence, and manage cross-functional teams.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to align improvement initiatives with organizational goals.
- Adaptability: Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Team Leadership: Inspires and motivates teams to adopt a continuous improvement mindset.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
