Current Need:

We are seeking an effective Senior Product Manager to play a crucial role in overseeing a suite of products and ensuring alignment with business objectives, market needs, and customer expectations. As a Senior Product Manager on our Portfolio Optimization team in the PSaS CSI—Innovation unit, you will be responsible for providing data-driven insights on the status of products and solutions to support the optimization of the portfolio's value and status. This role is crucial in supporting strategic decision-making, optimizing portfolio performance, and providing executive updates to senior management, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy.

This role actively supports the development/enhancement of business plans and product roadmaps by managing progress toward milestones and driving the strategic implementation of product recommendations. It works closely with leadership, product owners, engineering, operations, finance, legal, and third-party partners to prioritize resource allocation to optimize portfolio performance and drive continuous improvement.

This is a Hybrid (heavy remote) role in Irving, TX.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Portfolio, Product leadership, and Finance to identify high-impact opportunities for resource optimization and reallocation.

  • Evaluate product(s) and overall portfolio performance against key metrics and benchmarks.

  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers to define and refine product roadmaps, budget, and resource planning. 

  • Create detailed plans to support the execution of product recommendations with minimal customer and business disruption.

  • Facilitate dialogue with a broad group of cross-functional teams with a demonstrated ability to lead and influence decisions.

  • Staying abreast of market changes, evolving models, stakeholder dynamics, and industry trends to support portfolio analysis and product recommendations.

  • Monitor the entire product lifecycle from ideation to sunset, ensuring timely launches and retirements. Evaluate product performance and make data-driven decisions for adjustments or discontinuation.

  • Develop resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity. Use judgment within broadly defined policies and practices. Anticipate change and direct or redirect efforts.

Minimum Requirement:

  • Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience in product management, product operations, and/or strategic portfolio management.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field. MBA or equivalent preferred.

Critical Skills

  • Strong business and financial acumen with experience in business case development.

  • Experience in technical product development and management.

  • Healthcare Background: Experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical, or pharmacy operations preferred.

  • Proficiency in using project management and product development tools.

Additional Skills:

  • Ability to develop strong value propositions for internal stakeholders (and customers).

  • Ability to inform long-term strategy based on competition, market dynamics, and emerging technologies.

  • Change management expertise with a focus on minimizing business disruption.

  • Excellent written, and verbal communications skills.

  • Ability to multitask, adapt to changing priorities, be decisive under ambiguity, and meet tight deadlines.

  • Understanding of financial modeling and experience with financial planning, budgeting, and resource allocation to support resource and investment planning is a plus.

Core Competencies:

  • Analytical Rigor: Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including linking product roadmap to strategic objectives and synthesizing insights from analysis, ensuring functional and actionable recommendations.

  • Strategic Thinking: Evaluating industry trends, understanding possible long-term implications, and recommending pragmatic approaches for new opportunities to close portfolio/capability gaps.

  • Initiative Management: Ability to lead projects and workstreams independently and collaborate with different stakeholder teams to drive results, with proven ability to influence (and negotiate with) cross-functional teams without formal authority.

  • Communications Skills:Ability to develop rapport and credibility across the organization to promote ideas and proposals persuasively.

  • Technology Understanding: Sufficient technical knowledge to understand product development processes and communicate effectively with development teams.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$120,400 - $200,600
