Current Need

We are seeking a Community Pharmacy Technician to join our full service community pharmacy n our state-of-the-art Headquarters in Las Colinas, TX

Hours

Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm

Position Summary

As a Pharmacy Technician you will act as a trusted health care resource and ensure the customer’s needs are met through effective day-to-day support of the operations of the Community Pharmacy.  The Pharmacy Technician with a focus on business growth is responsible for supporting the pharmacy's operational needs while actively contributing to strategies and initiatives aimed at expanding the pharmacy's business. This role combines traditional pharmacy technician duties with responsibilities that drive business growth and enhance customer engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Specific duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Retrieving, pouring, counting, labeling, and reconstituting prescription medications
  • Accessing, inputting, and retrieving information through the Pharmacy’s computer network to maintain accurate records
  • Creating accurate prescription labels
  • Obtaining refill authorizations from prescribers
  • Processing and preparing third-party insurance claims
  • Communicating with physicians, patients, and third-parties, such as insurers
  • Maintaining accurate patient/ client profiles
  • Maintaining Pharmacy inventory
  • Preparing reports related to sales, usage, and inventory
  • Complying with established procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Providing completed orders to customers
  • Answering phones and directing customer calls to the appropriate personnel
  • Maintaining and cleaning equipment, work areas, and shelves
  • Accepting prescriptions to be filled and ensuring that the PIC has the data necessary to fill the orders
  • Greeting and assisting customers
  • Recordkeeping related to inventories, receipts, purchases, deliveries, returns and recalls
  • Collecting co-payments
  • Packaging and labeling products under the supervision of the PIC
  • Restocking shelves
  • Unpacking and organizing incoming merchandise, including sorting items that require special handling
  • Rotating stock, checking for outdated medications and initiating re-ordering process of low inventories
  • Understanding confidentiality with respect to patient/ client care; complying with all federal and state laws applicable to the confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) and electronic protected health information (EPHI); and following HIPAA guidelines regarding readily identifiable protected health information
  • Working as a team and communicating clearly
  • Helping customers locate over-the-counter products
  • Handling customer problems/ concerns in a calm manner and referring them to the pharmacist accordingly
  • Notifying the pharmacist of any problems or malfunctions
  • Checking refrigerator and freezer temperatures
  • Properly processing pseudoephedrine sales
  • Properly processing Medicare DME claims
  • Promoting teamwork
  • Providing professional services
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvement
  • Actively participating and developing marketing and promotional activities
  • Assisting in the development and execution of pharmacy business plans
  • Staying informed about industry trends and advancement
  • Create comprehensive reports and presentations to share with the pharmacy team and management, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

Minimum Requirement

Typically requires 3+ years of related experience

Education

  • Minimum High school diploma or equivalency
  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Certification

  • Active National Pharmacy Technician Certification or willing to complete certification upon hire
  • Active pharmacy technician license in the state of Texas
  • National technician certification preferred
  • CPR Certified

Critical Skills

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Prior experience as a cashier
  • Ability to read and transcribe pharmaceutical information
  • Ability to act as a team player
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to multitask
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Computer skills as necessary to operate Pharmacy management software and other necessary programs
  • Punctuality
  • Telephone skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and innovation

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • Professional marketing / business building experience
  • Pharmacy front-end department supervision
  • Project management skills a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Retail store environment
  • Frequent computer use
  • Able to select and lift objects from shelves
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of 5-20 pounds
  • Standing/walking continuously during the shift (8+hours per day)

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$18.51 - $30.85
