McKesson is a purpose driven Fortune 9 Healthcare business with almost 200 years of legacy. We are seeking to hire an enterprise leader to lead strategy and delivery of advanced data science services across the enterprise.
We are looking for a passionate and talented data science leader with proven expertise in leading end-to-end delivery of enterprise level Advanced Data Science Services, delivering significant finance verified business value, and establishing global standards for advanced data science.
This role will report directly into enterprise leader for Advanced Analytics, and will help build and deliver reusable data science solutions like advanced forecasting, digital twins/simulation, segmentation and optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Build And Scale Enterprise Advanced Data Science Service
Direct and oversee the end-to-end delivery of Enterprise Advanced Data Science solutions, ensuring substantial financial value delivery and setting global standards for data science solutions.
Collaborate with technology and business units to identify and leverage opportunities for operational efficiencies, enhanced customer service, and business expansion.
Grow and enhance the capabilities of supply chain AI/ML and operations research across multiple corporate sub-functions.
Develop and implement innovative customer and patient analytics solutions to drive strategic insights and outcomes; build enterprise forecasting team.
2. Develop Reusable Data Science Capabilities
As the Global lead for Advanced Data Science, direct and manage a team of technical leaders and experts, to develop and implement reusable Data Science solutions, including advanced forecasting, digital twins/simulations, segmentation, classification, optimization, and reinforcement learning, across the enterprise, and help enable AI Big Bets value delivery.
Spearhead the development and application of operations research methodologies, integrating them into the overarching business strategy to enhance operational efficiencies, and supporting strategic planning across multiple businesses including US Pharma, International, and Prescription technology Solutions.
3. Lead Advanced Data Science Collaboration & Innovation
Lead the enterprise function to drive cross-pollination of advanced data science ideas across divisions and geographical regions.
Drive the incubation and development of cutting-edge data science solutions and services, focusing initially on customer and patient analytics.
Cultivate a culture of experimentation and innovation to explore and develop new data-driven opportunities and solutions.
Oversee the implementation of data science solutions that support US and Canadian businesses, as well as global procurement operations in Europe.
Make strategic decisions that weigh cross-division and geographic impacts, ensuring alignment between local standards and enterprise policies.
Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration to create cohesive data science strategies across all regions.
4. Direct Delivery Operations and Provide Strategic Leadership
Oversee the operations, initiatives, and key programs of the Advanced Data Science Service, ensuring alignment with BU and Enterprise goals.
Develop and implement operational policies, goals, performance standards, and budgets for all enterprise-level advanced data science solutions, including Supply Chain, Forecasting, Operations Research, and Customer and Patient analytics. Ensure alignment with enterprise AI big bets.
Drive accountability among enterprise level delivery leaders, including directors and senior leads, ensuring they uphold performance standards and deliver high-quality outputs. Oversee customer satisfaction, services, and program success within Enterprise Advanced Data Science service.
Foster global data science standards and best practices by collaborating with business units and corporate functions. Promote continuous improvement and excellence in data science capabilities, ensuring strategic integration across the enterprise.
Provide professional, thought, and technical leadership to the team.
5. Influence Enterprise Data Science Decisions and Foster Innovation
Directly engage with executives and major customers, including CIOs, to adeptly handle complex business problems, and influence key enterprise decisions related to advanced data science.
Utilize data insights to drive strategic decisions and actions across technology and business functions, ensuring alignment with the business unit’s strategy, and fostering a unified advanced data science vision.
Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate effective collaboration and ensure the successful implementation of data-driven strategies. Promote a cohesive vision for integrated data science initiatives.
Lead cross-functional teams in converting data insights into actionable business strategies, driving innovation and growth while ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and the enterprise's strategic direction.
Partner with finance teams to track and report the value delivery of data science projects. Develop metrics and KPIs to assess impact, ensuring transparency and accountability in value creation.
6. Attract, Retain and Grow High-Performing Talent
Leverage innovative recruitment strategies and identify compelling data science initiatives to attract top data science talent.
Create dynamic training and mentorship programs that focus on emerging technologies and methodologies.
Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that values autonomy and creativity, boosting engagement and retention.
Design transparent career progression paths with opportunities for impactful projects; implement performance management systems that align with personal and organizational growth.
Minimum Requirements
- Typically requires 13+ years of professional experience and 6+ years of diversified leadership, planning, communication, organization, and people motivation skills (or equivalent experience).
Critical skills
Business Experience – 13+ years of progressive experience in data science and analytics, with 8+ years of technical leadership, planning, communication, organization, and mentoring skills (or equivalent experience).
Extensive expertise in Data Science, with over 10 years of demonstrated expertise in Forecasting, Segmentation, Simulation, and Optimization.
Proficiency in utilizing AI, machine learning, and deep learning to enhance computational efficiency and model performance while minimizing costs.
Good understanding of business accounting and value tracking, with the capability to collaborate directly with the finance department to ensure data science driven value is accounted for.
Progressive experience in leadership roles, adept at navigating and influencing within the organization esp. in complex environments.
Strong abilities in risk assessment, problem-solving, negotiation, and influence.
Exceptional verbal and written communication capabilities.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
