The Research Operations function within The US Oncology Network partners with practices, Practice Management functions and leaders, and our strategic research partner organizations (e.g., Sarah Cannon Research Institute) to support and grow oncology clinical research programs in our partner community oncology practices.
The Sr. Manager, Research Programs will serve as a key contributor and leader in research operations and finance support and services. This role will develop and run research finance reporting and analysis to enable and support research program growth. In addition, this role will support development of critical research finance resources, policies, procedures, etc. as needed. This role will interact with multiple cross-functional stakeholders (Practice Management, Sarah Cannon Research Institute, Practices, others) and functions (Operations, Finance, Compliance, Revenue Cycle, etc.) to address opportunities and challenges, develop and execute programs, and grow research.
The ideal candidate will be curious, structured, and confident, with a natural drive to exceed immediate project requirements and provide exceptional service to stakeholders. A strong analytical capability combined with relationship-building, leadership, and communication skills will be key to success.
Key Responsibilities
- Support growth of clinical research in The Network by combining operational and financial analysis and recommendations to drive program growth
- Design and execute reporting on research financial and operational performance, including discovery of data sources and dashboarding as required and curating executive level and practice-specific analysis (e.g., forecasting and planning for staffing investments)
- Analyze research financials and agreements (e.g., study budgets, CTA) and support USON specific assessment and recommendations
- Partner on and support development of research billing and finance resources and documentation to support practices in compliant billing (e.g., research billing guides)
- Other duties may be assigned as needed to meet Company goals
Minimum Requirement
Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience with Finance, Accounting, and Clinical Operations field
Critical Skills
- Experience: At least 7 years of relevant experience in clinical trial management, clinical research, or community oncology operations / financials. Experience with revenue cycle a plus.
- Analytical Skills: Strong quantitative analysis and analytical thinking skills with high attention to detail; understanding of financial modeling and experience with financial planning, business process
- Technical Skills: Excellent proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word. Proficiency with clinical trial management systems and data analysis tools. Eperience with Tableau, Power BI, Essbase, PeopleSoft a plus.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information and to senior leaders to drive action
- Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of FDA and HIPPA regulations, Good Clinical Practice and ICH guidelines in clinical trials, CMS and NCCN guidelines in association with research billing
- Work Style: Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating self-starting capabilities. Comfortable with ambiguity, able to prioritize multiple tasks, and execute timely in a fast-paced environment.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
