Starting Pay is between $150,500.00 to $194,000.00 annually depending on experience
Current Need
The Lead Discovery Architect, Operations Enablement is responsible for providing thought leadership and strategic guidance/sequencing for enablement of patterns and connectors to enable automated discovery of our technology environment. The architect will partner with leaders in Infrastructure, Asset Management, Applications and the business to understand and remediate gaps in documentation of our technology landscape. The architect will ensure that we maximize the business value of our ServiceNow investment, building connections between on-premise and cloud assets, to ensure that our CMDB provides an authoritative source of truth for assets, applications, and related infrastructure. With an emphasis on operational excellence imperatives, we are building an internal capability to guide our long-term journey with this strategic platform.
Job Description
Core Responsibilities:
- Establish standards and practices for automated discovery of the technology environment (on-premise, private cloud, public cloud, etc.) that underpins the ServiceNow architecture model.
- Design reconciliation processes to aggregate various data sources into a robust, single source of truth.
- Support design and implementation of a configuration management operating model to achieve desired outcomes and foster service owner engagement/ownership.
- Provide technical evaluation of demands against ServiceNow platform architecture, platform capabilities, and best practices.
- Offer guidance on prototyping and accelerating time from design to deployment.
- Partner with security architecture and other internal stakeholders to provide required diagrams and accommodations to align with MT standards, frameworks and policies.
- Support remediation of configurations not aligned to ServiceNow best practices.
- Oversee the end-to-end platform focused on core features, integrations, and upstream-downstream data flows.
- Partner with IT Operations to design and deliver platforms that enable operational excellence and asset management standards.
- Provide input to roadmap for onboarding of additional features and capabilities to maximize platform value and build a sustainable platform.
Minimum Requirements
- Typically requires 10+ years relevant experience
Critical Skills
- Hands on experience with Discovery – patterns, schedules, service graph connectors, reconciliation engine, etc..
- Knowledge and experience in database design schemas, especially ServiceNow’s Common Services Data Model, to enable McKesson’s maturity journey.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in a variety of IT architecture and/or IT Service Management roles (such as hands-on service delivery, operations management, consulting, etc.) with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Strong understanding of the ITIL framework and the ITSM, ITOM, ITAM processes.
- Strong technical foundation in the Now Platform, either as a platform administrator or developer.
- Requirements gathering and facilitation experience.
- Experience in Cloud discovery
Additional Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong collaboration, facilitation, and negotiation skills to successfully partner with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Experience designing systems to optimize IT operations.
- Relevant professional certification (e.g., ITIL credentials, ServiceNow certification), strongly preferred.
Education
4-year degree or related field or equivalent experience

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
