The McKesson Cell, Gene, and Advanced Therapies business is at the forefront of healthcare innovation, specializing in the development of services which support groundbreaking therapies that are revolutionizing patient care. We seek a driven Senior Sales Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will leverage your deep understanding of the Cell and Gene industry and strong sales acumen to drive revenue generation. You will partner with the Sales and Product teams to identify customer needs, develop technical solutions, and close deals. This is a fast-paced and rewarding opportunity for a skilled individual contributor who is passionate about technology and enjoys building relationships. The successful candidate will possess a customer-centric orientation, strong technical skills, and attention to detail. He / she will excel within small team environments, demonstrate a proactive willingness to contribute immediately, and adopt a hands-on approach to ensure collective achievement.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Sales
- Provide technical pre-sales support to sales teams, ensuring accurate product knowledge and positioning
- Develop deep understanding of customer requirements through in-depth discussions and needs analysis
- Translate customer needs into technical solutions, identifying the most appropriate products and services from our portfolio
- Assist with technical aspects of RFPs and RFQs, crafting compelling responses that showcase our solutions
- Craft compelling technical presentations and proposals that effectively communicate the value proposition to customers
- Build interactive prototypes using tools, e.g., Figma, to illustrate proposed solutions
- Conduct product demonstrations; rapidly iterate on demo content based on customer feedback and evolving needs
- Partner with sales representatives to close deals, overcoming objections and negotiating win-win contracts
- Track sales progress, manage opportunities in the CRM system, and contribute to achieving sales quotas
Customer Relationship Management
- Build strong relationships with key decision-makers at customer accounts
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor, proactively identifying customer needs and recommending solutions
- In collaboration with Sales and Customer Success teams: manage and nurture customer relationships throughout the sales cycle, from initial contact to post-sales support; proactively address customer technical concerns and escalations, ensuring high levels of satisfaction; identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities, expanding the customer base and revenue potential
Strategic Initiatives
- Stay up-to-date on the latest industry trends, technologies, and competitor offerings
- Collaborate with marketing to develop effective sales collateral and content
- Collaborate with internal Product engineering teams to identify potential solutions and address customer concerns
- Continuously develop your sales skills and technical knowledge through training and self-improvement
Minimum Requirement
- Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Industrial Design / Engineering, Computer Science or related field; MBA, MS, or other advanced degree preferred
Critical Skills
- 7+ years of experience in technical sales or engineering role, with a proven track record of exceeding sales targets and quotas
- 5+ years of experience within healthcare and the life sciences, particularly in areas related to Cell and Gene therapies or similar domains
Additional Skills
- Strong experience in cell and gene therapy
- Understanding Biopharma Services and importance to customers and associated stakeholders
- Strong technical background with knowledge of relevant technologies, e.g., SaaS architectures and cloud platforms, APIs, web technologies, authentication and authorization protocols, and database systems
- Experience with prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD) and creating visual demo assets
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to tailor communication style to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to build trust and rapport with customers at all levels, fostering long-term relationships
- Forward-thinking entrepreneurial mindset, capable of identifying opportunities, taking initiative, and driving innovative solutions within a dynamic team environment
- Thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, adept at managing multiple priorities and initiatives

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
