Job Title: Senior Director - IT Programs
Work Location: Irving, TX (Hybrid role)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Director of IT Programs to manage and drive complex, cross-functional initiatives that integrate emerging technologies with business strategies with strong business acumen. This pivotal role demands a visionary leader capable of translating strategic priorities into actionable roadmaps and delivering impactful change across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of strategic thinking, driving transformative change through influence, technological fluency, and hands-on program management expertise.
Critical Skills Required:
- Develop and communicate a comprehensive vision and strategy for IT programs that align with McKesson’s business objectives.
Extensive expertise in schedule cost and value tracking, with a keen focus on these areas
Proven track record in managing and mentoring a team of 6-8 project managers.
Primarily involved in business engagement and operations.
Demonstrates strong executive presence, frequently collaborating with stakeholders.
Skilled in simplifying complex concepts and communicating them effectively in business terms.
Experience in navigating and succeeding within large matrix organizations.
Functions as an extension of the business team, rather than a central IT member.
Job Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy:
- Develop and communicate a comprehensive vision and strategy for IT programs that align with McKesson’s business objectives.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence within the program management team and across departments.
- Work closely with executives and senior leaders to ensure alignment and integration of strategic initiatives within the program.
Program Management:
- Lead enterprise-level transformation programs from inception through execution and handoff to support, aligning stakeholders across business and technology teams.
- Define program strategy, operating models, success metrics, and governance structures for high-visibility initiatives.
- Oversee the end-to-end program lifecycle, including planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Partner with technology, business, and finance teams to integrate emerging technologies, platforms, and vendor partners that accelerate innovation
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and effective communication.
- Present program updates, risks, and opportunities to executive leadership and other key stakeholders.
Risk & Change Management:
- Navigate ambiguity, risk, and change with agility, ensuring proactive mitigation and course correction for program success.
- Oversee change management efforts to ensure smooth adoption of new strategies and technologies across the organization.
Qualifications:
- Master's or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Information Technology or Engineering or Computer Science, or related field;
- 12+ years of progressive experience in program management, strategy consulting, or innovation leadership in large, complex organizations.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale, cross-functional programs that deliver business and technical outcomes.
- Deep understanding of digital transformation, emerging technologies, and their application in real-world business environments.
- Exceptional leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- PMP, PgMP, or similar certification is a plus.
Travel requirements: 10% quarterly (as needed)

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
