Job Title: Lead Cloud Solution Architect
Current Need:
McKesson is looking for a Lead Cloud Solution Architect to join the key technical leadership role within the Cloud Services team, reporting to the Senior Director of Cloud Onboarding. This role is focused on working closely with McKesson's business units to understand their objectives and architect secure, scalable, and reliable solutions on the cloud platform. As a trusted advisor, the Solution Architect will bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and cloud best practices.
This role demands strong technical acumen, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative mindset. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in designing and delivering cloud-native solutions, enabling business outcomes while ensuring adherence to security and compliance requirements.
Job responsibilities:
What You’ll Do:
- Collaborate to understand their goals, challenges, and technical requirements.
- Design cloud solutions leveraging Azure (and potentially AWS or GCP where appropriate) to meet business needs while ensuring scalability, security, and reliability.
- Ensure solutions adhere to McKesson’s enterprise architecture standards, security frameworks, and compliance requirements.
- Partner with business units to guide them through the onboarding process, helping them adopt cloud services effectively. This includes acting as a technical advisor to support the planning and execution of cloud migration projects.
- Work closely with enterprise architecture, cloud platform operations, and governance teams to ensure seamless integration of solutions into the organization’s cloud environment.
- Develop and maintain detailed solution architecture documentation, ensuring transparency and knowledge sharing across teams.
- Participate in training and enablement activities to upskill business unit teams on leveraging cloud capabilities.
What We’re Looking For:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in IT, with at least 3 years in solution architecture and cloud-based technologies.
Critical Skills/Experience:
- 10+ years of Cloud Architecture and/or relevant industry experience.
- Expertise in Azure is required; experience with AWS or GCP is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
Technical Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of cloud-native technologies, microservices architecture, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform or ARM templates.
- Proven experience in designing and deploying secure, scalable, and resilient solutions in large scale cloud environments that are heavily regulated.
- Solid understanding of enterprise security, compliance, and governance frameworks.
- Experience with migration projects and hybrid cloud environments is a plus.
- Cloud certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Relocation is NOT budgeted for this position.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
