Current Need
We are seeking a skilled Data Analyst with a strong emphasis on Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and analyzing data related to our CMDB, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and consistency. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a passion for data management and a deep understanding of CMDB processes and best practices.
Job Description
Core Responsibilities:
- CMDB Data Management: Maintain and update the CMDB, ensuring all configuration items (CIs) are accurately documented, tracked and aligned with McKesson standards.
- Data Analysis: Perform regular data audits to identify inconsistencies, duplicates, or missing information, and implement corrective actions.
- Analyze the CMDB data to identify trends, relationships and dependencies between CIs to support incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Collaborate with McKesson teams to gather requirements, validate data inputs and ensure proper integration of systems feeding into CMDB.
- Reporting: Generate and distribute regular reports and metrics providing insights into configuration data quality and compliance.
- Assist in the enforcement of CMDB policies, procedures and data governance standards.
- Support the resolution of data-related issues by troubleshooting discrepancies and coordinating with the relevant teams.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the CMDB processes, tools and workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with ITIL best practices and organizational security policies related to configuration management.
- Collaboration: Work closely with IT teams, including Service Management, Infrastructure, and Application teams, to ensure CMDB data is accurate and complete in support of operational and strategic goals.
- Documentation: Develop and maintain documentation related to CMDB processes, data standards, and best practices.
Minimum Requirements
- Typically requires 3+ years relevant experience with a focus on CMDB (Configuration Management Database) or ITSM (IT Service Management)
- Proficiency in SQL, Excel, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Experience with CMDB tools (ServiceNow or similar)
- Understanding of the ITIL framework and the ITSM, ITOM, ITAM processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure components and their interrelationships
Critical Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and provide actionable insights.
- Strong organization skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactive approach to identifying and resolving data quality issues.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Hands on experience with configuration management concepts and tools.
- Familiarity with cloud environments and virtualized infrastructure.
Additional Skills
- Relevant professional certification (e.g., ITIL credentials), strongly preferred.
Education
4-year degree or related field or equivalent experience
