Program Overview

McKesson’s Intern program is 10-12 weeks long, and is designed to provide:

  • A real-life working environment

Work Term: Winter 2025

Duration: 4 months

Location: Hybrid – GTA Pharmacy 6655 Airport Rd, Mississauga, ON L4V 1V8, Canada

Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Specialty Pharmacy Intern to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing and supporting patient care activities, ensuring smooth coordination of prescriptions and medical supplies, and participating in various projects and initiatives. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a specialty pharmacy setting and contribute to the digital transformation within our business unit.

Responsibilities:

Patient Care Activities:

  • Manage compliance calls to ensure patients adhere to their medication schedules.
  • Counsel patients on their prescriptions in accordance with the scope of practice for interns as defined by the Provincial College's rules and regulations.

Coordination of Prescriptions and Supplies:

  • Ensure timely and accurate coordination of prescriptions and medical supplies for delivery to patients' homes, medical clinics, or infusion clinics as required.

Payor Models and Pricing:

  • Gain a thorough understanding of payor models and pricing of pharmacy services within the applicable province of practice.

Projects and Initiatives:

  • Take on and contribute to various projects and initiatives related to pharmacy services, pharmaceutical manufacturer clients, and digital transformation within the business unit.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmaD), or relevant program
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with payor models and pricing strategies is an asset.
  • Proficiency in digital tools and a keen interest in digital transformation initiatives.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$17.69 - $27.74
