Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Operational Excellence to join our team. This role will report directly to the Vice President, Strategic Execution & Operational Excellence. This individual will serve as a strategic advisor and subject matter expert, driving process improvement initiatives and promoting a culture of continuous improvement across the organization. This individual contributor role focuses on developing and implementing best practices, methodologies, and frameworks to enhance operational performance and efficiency.
While initially an individual contributor role, this position has the potential to evolve into a leadership role as the incumbent builds the Operational Excellence team. The successful candidate will be responsible for stakeholder management and influencing key decisions to support the business. As the team grows, the Director will lead and develop the Operational Excellence team to further support the organization's goals.
Specific Responsibilities
- Create and implement a comprehensive operational excellence strategy that aligns with organizational objectives and drives continuous improvement.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of current processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements to optimize performance including identifying opportunities to leverage technology such as process automation to enable efficiencies.
- Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence methodologies to develop and implement robust improvement initiatives.
- Utilize data analytics to measure performance, identify trends, and support decision-making processes.
- Document and share best practices across the organization to foster a culture of operational excellence.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to teams on operational excellence principles and tools, facilitating knowledge transfer and skill development.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and support for operational excellence initiatives.
- Support organizational change efforts related to process improvements and operational changes.
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of improvement initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field; advanced degree is a strong asset
- 8-10 years of experience in operational excellence, process improvement, or related areas, with a strong track record of successful implementation.
- 3-5 years of experience in patient services, pharmacy programs, call centers, or related specialty healthcare fields is a strong asset.
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification is required.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
