Position Description
As the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) Operations Lead in McKesson Information Technology you will be involved in integration of CMDB with other processes such as incident, change and problem management, creating documentation and providing training on CMDB processes and best practices and to effectively communicate the CMDB’s importance to McKesson Technology teams and stakeholders. Your role will be pivotal in maintaining an accurate and reliable CMDB that supports IT Service Management and decision making within McKesson.
Responsibilities
Implement foundational processes needed to capture and maintain configuration item (CI) data throughout the lifecycle of a CI.
Lead effort to gather attribute information for new categories being onboarded to the CMDB
Oversee and execute CMDB Health activities such as reconciliation with other sources of truth, daily activities, etc.
Evaluate and improve the CMDB performance and maturity
Publish CMDB health metrics
Partner with ServiceNow Enablement team to implement enhancements that improve data accuracy
Provide CMDB reports to stakeholders
Educate team members on foundational processes
Partner with Change Management team to track and report on Configuration Changes
Conduct regular audits and verification activities to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the CMDB data, identifying and rectifying discrepancies as necessary.
Review and approve all significant IT Infra changes to ensure impacts to configuration management data are properly addressed
Support users and product owners in execution of Configuration Management responsibilities
Mentor the organization on Configuration Management services, concepts, policies and procedures
Execute Automated Data Certification campaigns. Escalate non-compliance with Data Certification responsibilities.
Provide guidance on CMDB class assignments
Review discovery results
Run and deliver ad hoc CMDB reports as required
Partner with ServiceNow Enablement team to develop CMDB dashboards
Provide governance of team responsible for responding to CMDB related Service Requests
Provide CI owner data to Cybersecurity for vulnerability remediation
Onboard new CIs to CMDB as part of M&A projects
Identify and execute opportunities for automation

Minimum Requirements:
Typically requires 10+ years of experience of relevant experience
Critical Skills
In depth knowledge of Configuration Management concepts, best practices, methodologies
Proven experience implementing Configuration Management processes across a large scale and diverse IT environment with a focus on administration and governance
Possession of excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Able to apply a structured methodology to Configuration Management operations activities
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining data integrity and accuracy of the CMDB
Lead, manage and mentor a team of direct reports and provide governance to third party team that executes CMDB requests
Additional Experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Deep knowledge of ITIL concepts or ITIL certification
Experience with ServiceNow CMDB
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
