Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Manager, PMO, the Senior Project Manager manages cross-functional teams responsible for delivering more complex/critical projects, within scope, budget, agreed-to timelines, and quality results in relation with the business requirements identified. Projects will be related to any line of business from the Biopharma & Provider Solutions (BPS) business unit of McKesson Canada.

The Senior Project Manager will plan, organize, monitor, and oversee multiple projects (project portfolios) to meet defined requirements or business specifications, is able to co-direct and co-manage projects with other McKesson Project Managers, ensures that appropriate action plans are in place to resolve any issues or project health deficiencies and will provide clear and consistent communication across the organization.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of project management (scope definition, budget, schedule, procurement, quality, safety and risk mitigation) for your projects.
  • Develops project plans, sets deadlines and coordinates activities
  • Identifies critical path and dependencies to other ongoing initiatives within BPS
  • Sets and controls scope
  • Develops clear objectives, deliverables, and timelines/milestones (incl. commonly agreed-to deadlines with business users and/or external customers) as required to achieve the project objectives.
  • Identifying project risks and possible mitigations
  • Conducts/Participates in User Acceptance Testing for developed solutions and features
  • Helps the project team and stakeholders understand their accountability and timely escalation of out-of-tolerance conditions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May direct the work of others without formal management responsibilities.
  • Develops and implements action plans to correct complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity.
  • Anticipates and responds to the client and project team’s needs and concerns.
  • Coordinates with the business partner community to devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems or improves existing processes
  • Provides partners with alternative solutions and recommendations
  • Tracks projects issues until resolution during pre and post implementation phases
  • Continuously seeks an understanding of McKesson’s internal departments, organizational goals and BPS strategic priorities and appropriately aligns the project delivery strategy.
  • Co-designs and co-develops business processes identifying bottlenecks and process capacities
  • Exhibits a good understanding of BPS governance policies, procedures, SOPs, and technology stack.
  • Oversees the preparation of accurate, timely, and complete reports.
  • Provides regular project status updates to external stakeholders and BPS leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required from College or University in a related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP certified) is required.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of project management experience in developing project plans and proven track record of project management success with medium to large projects.
  • Experience working with various project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall).
  • Prior experience in Patient Support Programs (including launching programs), Specialty Pharmacies, and/or Infusion Clinics is required.

Key Competencies

  • Agile methodologies – preferred.
  • Prior experience with system implementations – preferred.
  • Knowledge of Process improvement methodologies and effective change management experience.
  • Demonstrate change management capabilities.
  • Anticipates change and directs or redirects efforts.
  • Quick study able to pick up and understand aspects related to the business processes and supporting systems.
  • Strong judgement and business acumen to deal with sensitive projects/context.
  • Ability to navigate communications with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Adequate understanding of the Specialty Pharma sector, including McKesson’s offerings for manufacturers, patients, and providers
  • Creative problem solver with strong ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Project, SharePoint, Visio, Office 365, Smartsheet and JIRA.
  • Autonomous “self-starter” attitude with the ability to excel in dynamic work environment. Accomplishes work without considerable direction.
  • Experience managing “by influence” indirect teams at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership, managerial, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Excellent team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication (listening, oral and written), presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Bilingualism (French) is an asset

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$86,600 - $144,300
