Job Summary

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Corporate Quality and Compliance Excellence, the Specialist, Corporate Quality and Compliance Excellence will be responsible for ensuring adherence to the established standards of quality including reliability, usability, and performance. The incumbent will support the operations (within National Pharma Distribution) and the Corporate Team. The focus will be on continuous improvement initiatives, national and corporate projects, supporting specific ongoing QMS requirements, participate in maintaining KCIs and identifying risks.

At this level, the Specialist, Corporate Quality and Compliance Excellence typically:

  • Works under limited direction with work being evaluated upon completion to ensure objectives have been met. 

  • Determines and develops approach to solutions.  

  • Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts.   

  • Represents the department on projects and may perform in project leadership role. 

  • Represents the department and is the main quality point of contact at the DC level. 

  • Provides resolutions to a diverse range of complex problems using judgement within defined policies and practices. 

Section A - Position Description

The Specialist, Corporate Quality and Compliance Excellence will perform the following activities: 

  • Lead and/or support the development and implementation of quality projects.

  • Manage oversight and tracking of quality projects at a national and regional level.

  • Support in identification and implementation of continuous quality process improvement initiatives by evaluating trend analyses on activities that impact quality conformance and compliance.

  • Evaluate adequacy of quality assurance standards at a regional and/or national level.

  • Review the implementation and efficiency of quality and inspection systems/tools.

  • Support national and corporate-level investigations and action plan development.

  • Support tracking and implementation of projects and tasks across multiple business units.

  • Support the coordination of activities with project teams, including external consultants and service suppliers.

  • Assure ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements.

Section B – Specific Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of a QMS system (Master Control).

  • Monitor risk management activities.

  • Maintain key quality metrics at a regional and/or national level.

  • Prepare reports to communicate outcomes of quality activities.

  • Launch cyclical PHA-SOP revision as required.

  • Review formatting of PHA-SOP and ensure the translation to French is completed adequately.

  • Collect, compile, and analyze quality data to proactively identify areas at risk or needing improvement.

  • Evaluate audit findings from all corporate business units, identify risks and support the implementation of appropriate corrective actions at a regional and/or national level.

  • Monitor compliance risks from the quality plan for timely completion.

Section C – Position Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in science or equivalent experience.

  • Knowledge of Canadian drug GMP environment and other applicable regulations pertaining to narcotics, precursors, cannabis, medical devices, and natural health products.

  • Experience with internal/external quality auditing an asset.

  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Knowledge of tools, concepts and methodologies of QA.

  • Knowledge of Master Control QMS system an asset.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Health Canada's GMP.

  • Regulations including those applied to wholesalers and distributors/importers an asset.

  • Knowledge of regulations and guidelines for temperature control of drug products during storage and transportation.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership in a professional environment.

  • Ability to motivate in a teamwork environment.

  • Data collection, management, and analysis.

  • Good judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

  • Capacity to work independently without considerable direction.

  • Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks is an essential characteristic.

  • Knowledge of project management tools, concepts, and methodologies.

  • Strong analytical skills, excellent interpersonal, written & oral communication skills.

  • Strong time management and prioritization skills, with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of current regulations and best practices.

  • Bilingual (spoken/written English and French) considered an asset.

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$71,400 - $119,000
