The Operations Manager is accountable for planning, directing, and coordinating all distribution activities for the distribution center. This pivotal role encompasses team development, order accuracy, delivery service levels and performance. The Operations Manager plays a critical part in the distribution center’s success by driving operational goals, fostering collaboration and actively promoting team engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, schedules, and reviews workload to ensure targets are achieved. 

  • Ensures supervisor responsibilities are outlined, and expectations clearly defined to maximize accountability and effectiveness. 

  • Maintains a safe environment, positive workplace morale, efficient work standards and develops leadership and teamwork. 

  • Effectively develops distribution center supervisory teams through coaching, mentoring, and training. 

  • Ensures warehouse operations comply with all federal, state, local and company policies.

  • Monitors and helps controls associated DC expenses.

  • Develops and implements improved processes and procedures, leading with a continuous improvement mindset.

  • Plays a key role in managing KPI’s to ensure safety, quality and on time delivery. 

  • Prepares and analyzes reports, presentations and data with respect to operational planning and execution. 

  • Builds relationships and fosters collaboration with other DCs, Sales, Inventory, and facilities.

  • Rolls out and administers policies and practices related to the operation, ensuring team member comprehension and accountability.   

  • Analyzes operating and delivery procedures, systems and schedules and all other distribution center activities to identify potential efficiency improvements and cost-savings.

  • Utilizes appropriate performance management system to assess, measure and address employee performance. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Typically requires 6+ years of professional experience and 0-2 years of supervisory experience.

Critical Requirements

  • 5 + years operational knowledge or production environment experience 

  • 2+ years effectively supervising, embodying a hands-on managerial approach with a predominant focus on direct engagement and active presence on the operational floor.

  • Exceptional leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to engage, motivate, and guide a diverse team.

  • In-depth knowledge and expertise in all facets of operations management, encompassing strategic planning, process optimization, resource allocation, and team leadership to drive operational excellence.

  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives that drive operational efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Proficient in effectively collaborating and communicating with teams across various functions in a matrixed environment.

Additional Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent organizational skills 

  • Efficiently manage time and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.  

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively handle, organize, and interpret data to derive valuable insights and inform decision-making.

  • Ability to be flexible with shift, including hours and weekend work based on business need.

  • Experience with the application of Six Sigma methods would be considered an asset.

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.

  • Strong communication skills (verbal & written). 

  • Demonstrated ability to assertively seeks solutions at the root level of problems.

  • Strong computer skills:  Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

  • Behaviors aligned with McKesson I2CARE/ILEAD principles and values.

Education

  • 4-year degree in related field or equivalent experience

Physical Requirements

  • Multiple environments including office, warehouse, and refrigerated storage.

Schedule: Sunday -Thursday, start time: 5:00PM - 3:00AM with the flexibility with shift, including hours and weekend work based on business need.

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$66,000 - $110,000
