Job Summary

The Contract Management Associate, will report to the Director, Process Excellence and will work closely with the Senior Contracts Specialist on the Contracts Management team. Responsibilities include acting as the subject matter expert and liaison between the business and Legal as well as providing contractual support to the Biopharma and Provider Solutions business units. The role requires excellent interpersonal skills along with the ability to collaborate with various internal departments including Finance and Legal. Responsibilities would include, but not limited to, the following:

Specific Responsibilities

  • Contract Monitoring and Review: Serve as a subject matter expert to regularly monitor and review contracts across the different business units, ensuring compliance with legal terms and organizational policies. Update contracts to reflect accurate information, such as service fees and price changes.
  • Contract Process, Coordination and Life-cycle Management: In collaboration with Sr Contract Specialist, own the contract process and manage the life-cycle of contracts. Track contractual deliverables and collaborate with internal departments to ensure required actions are taken. Provide guidance to stakeholders on contract milestones, such as renewal deadlines. May act as contract liaison with external customer/vendor to support organization with contract changes and/or negotiations.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Work closely with Legal, Senior Contracts Specialist, and other relevant departments to identify potential risks associated with contracts. Design and implement strategies to mitigate risks effectively.
  • Performance Metrics and Process Improvements: Design, develop and own contract management dashboard to capture and monitor department performance metrics. Investigate any outliers and work with the team to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Apttus System Maintenance: Responsible for maintaining Apttus system, ensuring that document owners are up to date and that all contracts and versions are properly uploaded and archived.  Define and design enhancements to the system to allow for better data and reporting capabilities.
  • Annual Review and SOP Compliance: Lead annual contract reviews in accordance with the current standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Central Intake Application (CIA) System Monitoring: Monitor the CIA system and assign tasks to the McKesson Legal team as necessary.
  • Task Tracking and Follow-up: Track all tasks submitted to Legal and follow up for responses that exceed the agreed-upon timeline.
  • Process Training: Train staff on the CIA process and act as a subject matter expert on the contract repository process (Apttus). Create and modify training materials as required based on feedback from Legal and end users.
  • Internal Audits: Participate in internal audits as required
  • Docusign Document Processing: Process and monitor the completion of pending documents in DocuSign.

General Responsibilities

  • Review contracts (MSA/NDA, SOW) ensuring compliance with the organization’s guidelines.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of contractual guidelines, ensuring that processes are clearly defined, documented, and aligned with organizational standards.
  • Ensure that processes within Biopharma and Provider Solutions are audit-ready, both for internal and external audits. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop and maintain robust audit trails
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert in supporting the business in document requirements, DocuSign, and Apttus management
  • Create training materials, update SOP’s to support the department and the business
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of processes, fostering effective communication and understanding of interdependencies between different teams within Biopharma and Provider Solutions
  • Plan, schedule and organize a variety of activities that deal with situations involving complex issues with tight deadlines with a high degree of accuracy
  • Stay informed about industry regulations and compliance requirements, ensuring that Biopharma and Provider Solutions processes align with regulatory standards
  • Assist the Director Process Excellence and the Senior Contracts Specialist with special projects as applicable.  Create project plans and provide updates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree and/or paralegal certificate
  • 3+ years of experience working as a paralegal professional and/or Law clerk
  • 3+ years working directly with contract management, ideally in the Healthcare industry

  • Experience in working in a fast-paced work environment with fluctuating demand for services is essential
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interface with program/project stakeholders
  • Superior business application skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Access, Salesforce, Apttus)
  • Bilingual (French is an asset)

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$49,800 - $83,000
