Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Data & Analytics, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Product Owner to join our Data and Analytics (D&A) team.  As a Data Product Owner, you will play a critical role in driving the development, implementation and maintenance of new and existing data-driven solutions to support our biopharmaceutical and healthcare provider clients. You will be responsible for the end-to-end development and scaling of internal- and external-facing dashboards and reports. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and act as a translator between technical and business stakeholders, to define product vision, prioritize features, and help to ensure the successful development, deployment, and adoption of high-quality data products. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the advancement of data-driven solutions in the biopharma and healthcare industry.

You will have the opportunity to facilitate the design and development of analytical, insights driven data products that address the needs of the business and that consumers adopt it and use it to solve business challenges. You will create and leverage complex models and dashboards from internal and external data sources, in collaboration with our data & analytics (“D&A”) team, to drive an impactful dialogue on hindsight, insight, and foresight. You will also be asked to execute other related analytics activities.

Product Responsibilities

  • Owns the D&A products’ development roadmap that includes collecting business requirements, translating to technical specifications. creating user stories, actionable tasks and overseeing the delivery in alignment with organization’s goals and vision

  • Responsible for providing knowledge-based content and technical expertise for the development and implementation of D&A products, including Power BI architecture.

  • Works closely with Biopharma & Provider Solutions senior management as well as key support functions to deliver features and enhancements to their portfolio of D&A products, as well as defining key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Showcases and positions the product during RFPs and other business development activities including developing demo-versions of the products.

  • Continuously monitor and analyze product performance metrics, gathering feedback from users and stakeholders to identify areas for improvement.

  • Lead the analysts and developers to ensure the successful execution of the product roadmap, providing guidance and expertise in data analysis and insights generation.

  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to create intuitive and user-friendly interfaces for data products.

  • Drive adoption of data products, provide training and support, and advocate using data to make smarter decisions.

  • Works with internal and external customers to analyze the needs and align product roadmap to strategic goals (incl. manufacturer-specific customizations), including participation in the end-to-end process of project delivery.

  • Responsible for determining the purpose of creating a data product, understanding its users, and capturing their expectations through the lens of product thinking.

  • Connects data from various internal and external sources to optimize insights stemming for D&A products.

  • Participate in Enterprise Data Governance Council to represent BU in decisions related to policies, processes, initiatives, and resources.

General Responsibilities

  • Oversees data quality and governance related to the data sources to ensure trust in ingested source data.

  • Continuously identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance the quality, accuracy, and efficiency of data analysis.

  • Acts as a McKesson ambassador of corporate values and of data-driven decision-making.

  • Independently lead projects and initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results

  • Supports data modelling efforts related to migration of data to Snowflake, where relevant to D&A products.

  • Conducts risk assessment and mitigations for all requests related to the product development.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes in the biopharma and healthcare domains to drive innovation and ensure compliance.

  • Recommends creation and adoption of new tools for advanced analytics in line with customer and business needs.

  • Acts as a coach to D&A teammates on delivering insights and data-driven storytelling.

Education & Working Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

  • 8+ years’ experience and recognized expertise in data analysis, preferably with a focus on customer-facing analytics and insights generation

  • Proven experience (5+ years) as a Product Owner or similar role, preferably within the biopharma or healthcare industry.

  • Knowledge of Canadian biopharma landscape, Patient Support Programs, Specialty pharmacies, infusion clinics, technology solutions for physicians, and general healthcare industry is a definite asset.

  • Experienced in managing end-to-end delivery of D&A products.

Technical Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into clear and actionable product specifications.

  • Capable of managing projects requiring specialized knowledge in client-facing D&A solutions

  • Possesses a strong understanding of end-to-end customer experience related to product integration and related dependencies across the portfolio of D&A products

  • Experienced in learning and connecting complex data sets.

  • Will be regarded as 'in house' expert on Power BI,  data visualization and advanced analytics tools, with good understanding of Microsoft Office suite.

  • Applies advanced principles, theories, and concepts related to dashboarding, data visualization, data modeling, and automation.

  • Contributed to the development of innovative D&A principles and ideas.

  • Has worked on unusually complex D&A problems and provided solutions that are highly creative.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects toward effective solutions and according to budget and timelines.

  • Understanding of financial concepts related to product profitability.

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$78,600 - $131,000
