The Research Operations function within The US Oncology Network partners with practices, Practice Management functions and leaders, and our strategic research partner organizations (e.g., Sarah Cannon Research Institute) to support and grow oncology clinical research programs in our partner community oncology practices.

The Sr. Manager, will serve as a leader in clinical research technology and process transformation across The Network practices. This individual will be responsible for serving as a central USON subject matter expert and leader on all things research technology for our practices and will be a major part of advancing our workflows to match future systems so that we make research easier and grow participation. This role will interact with multiple cross-functional stakeholders (Practice Management, Sarah Cannon Research Institute, Practices, others) and functions (Operations, IT, Clinical Programs, etc.) to address opportunities and challenges, develop and execute programs, and grow research.

The ideal candidate will be curious, structured, and confident, with a natural drive to exceed immediate project requirements and provide exceptional service to stakeholders. They will have an ability to identify big picture, strategic opportunities in addition to digging into the details. A strong analytical capability combined with relationship-building, leadership, and communication skills will be key to success. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support growth of clinical research in The Network by partnering with research teams, SCRI, and other practice management teams in the transition to new research technology and continued enhancement of existing technology
  • Become subject matter expert for USON practices and SCRI in current to future state of workflows and processes as they move from current to future systems  
  • Represent USON site processes, workflows in decisions and transition execution
  • Support technology evolution through change management and on-site engagement
  • Identify and advance opportunities for standardization or improvement
  • Assess broader research technology ecosystem, capabilities and support transition toward future standards
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed to meet Company goals

Minimum Requirement

  • Degree or equivalent
  • Typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.

Critical Skills

  • Experience: At least 7 years of relevant experience in clinical research, technology, change management, or community oncology operations
  • Analytical Skills: Strong quantitative analysis and analytical thinking skills with high attention to detail; understanding of operations process assessment and improvement using data and experience to address
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with clinical trial management systems, healthcare systems (e.g., EMR), and data analysis tools. Excellent proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word; experience with Tableau, Power BI a plus
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information and recommendations clearly and concisely to senior leaders to drive action
  • Collaboration and Influence Skills: Excellent proficiency at partnering across organizations and functions to drive action, with ability to influence stakeholders and build a coalition of support for clinical research initiatives
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues
  • Change Management: Capable of managing transitions from current systems to future systems, ensuring smooth workflow and process changes. Skilled in advocating for and managing changes in site processes and workflows during transitions
  • Process Documentation and Design: Experience in working with stakeholders, process owners to understand and document processes then partner across teams to adapt and re-design for new systems
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of FDA and HIPAA regulations, Good Clinical Practice and ICH guidelines in clinical trials, CMS and NCCN guidelines
  • Program Management: Experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating clinical programs. Skilled in developing strategic plans, managing complex projects, and leading cross-functional teams to achieve program objectives
  • Work Style: Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating self-starting capabilities. Comfortable with ambiguity, able to prioritize multiple tasks, and execute timely in a fast-paced environment.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$105,800 - $176,300
