The Clinical Laboratory Technical Consultant provides technical and scientific oversight of each of the specialties of service in which the laboratory performs testing. The consultant interfaces with the administration and laboratory staff, sales force, vendors, consulting team and leaders, and corporate personnel and leadership during all applications of the position. This position is also responsible to meet consulting revenue goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Responsible/oversight of customers account with respect to all state, local, and federal regulatory agencies
2. Ensure laboratory records for customer as well as documentation for laboratory operation are current within the project management software
3. Assess customer opportunities that enable the customer to advance quality testing of patient care
4. Stay current with advancements in laboratory technology as well as any changed to regulatory and compliance standards that includes but is not limited to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) updates
5. Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
Qualified candidates should have one of the following from an accredited institution:
Doctoral or Master degree in a laboratory science
Bachelor or Associate degree in a laboratory science, medical technology, or equalivent degree
Associate's Degree in a laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution
Certifications/Licensure
ASCP or equivalent certification is preferred
Licensing in Laboratory Science/ Medical Laboratory Scientist required within first year by the state where the laboratory is located (when applicable)
Work Experience:
Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) / Medical Technologist (MT) / Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) / Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) with 4+ years of relevant clinical laboratory experience. The training or experience requirements may be acquired concurrently for more than one specialty.
Required Skills:
Technical laboratory and laboratory consulting experience
Expertise in CLIA and CMS (federal) regulatory guidelines
Knowledge and comprehension of state specific regulatory standards and accreditation organization standards to include COLA, CAP and Joint Commission
Experience setting up new/supporting existing clinical laboratories
Experience working in a virtual environment including engagement with customers
Experience with Quality Assurance and Quality Management in a laboratory setting
Strong competency with MS Office suite of products
Additional Knowledge/Skills:
Experience as a laboratory supervisor, manager, or technical consultant desired.
Project Management certifications are valued regarded
Lean, Six Sigma certification is a value
Working Conditions:
Environment (Office, warehouse, etc.)
Work from home office environment
Up to 70% travel expectation
Physical Requirements (Lifting, standing, etc.)
Large percent of time performing computer-based work is required.
