Job Summary

As a member of the Projects & Enablement team within Marketing & Commercial Operations, the Instructional Designer will build eLearning courses and support the overall training objectives and initiatives for the L&D team. Utilizing their deep understanding of learning theories and instructional design methodologies, they will develop immersive, goal-oriented learning experiences. This process involves analyzing the needs and learning styles of both external pharmacy members and internal employees, establishing learning objectives, designing the educational environment, aiding in the training rollout, and evaluating the curriculum's effectiveness. Beyond experience in instructional design, your role on the learning team will demand enthusiastic facilitation of various learning events, from trainings to presentations. This position will closely collaborate with key stakeholders to convert business goals into compelling learning solutions that leverage behavioral best practices to support business initiatives.

Section A – Specific Responsibilities

Strategic

  • Stay informed about industry trends and spearhead the advancement of our learning platforms, ensuring our methods remain cutting-edge and market-leading.

  • Propose innovative learning methodologies and instructional design techniques that align with business strategies and elevate the learning experience.

  • Contribute to the overarching vision, strategies, and plans for McKesson's learning and development initiatives.

  • Collaborate with business partners and senior leadership to facilitate discussions, secure alignment on execution plans, and challenge the business when necessary to maintain focus on key priorities.

  • Participate in strategic planning discussions with external software vendors, managing critical aspects of contracts and agreements.

Execution

  • Conduct training assessments, including needs and task analyses, to gather pertinent data and propose strategic learning solutions.

  • Collaborate with internal Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) to gain insights into specific topics and design innovative educational approaches based on adult learning principles.

  • Complete instructional design documentation detailing the learning strategy, stakeholder goals, learning objectives, and modalities for stakeholder approval.

  • Develop training curricula using a blend of learning methods, including interactive eLearning, web-based training, and instructor-led sessions.

  • Support and facilitate live and virtual training sessions with tools that integrate instructional strategies tailored to adult learning styles.

  • Create participant guides, facilitator guides, job aids, and performance support materials as needed to enhance learning solutions.

  • Design, develop, and implement measurement and evaluation strategies through the LMS to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of learning solutions on performance.

  • Serve as an LMS administrator responsible for managing curricula, users, and event creation.

  • Provide updates on Salesforce regarding program status, performance, team directions, and other necessary information.

  • Manage trade show and conference booths, engage proactively with members (pharmacy owners and staff), promote the learning academy's benefits, and communicate new information and updates as needed.

  • Utilize effective project management practices to oversee the entire course development process, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

  • Prepare presentations and materials based on program requirements and needs. - Participate in Learning & Development team meetings, brainstorming sessions, conference calls, and special project teams.

  • Ensure adherence to company policies and perform additional duties as required to support McKesson Canada.

Section B – Key Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French (both spoken and written) is required.

  • Bachelor's Degree, Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Instructional Design, Education, Business, or a related field focusing on Adult Learning or another educational discipline.

  • A minimum 5 years of experience in the design and development of comprehensive learning solutions within a corporate environment.

  • Preferable expertise in Experiential Learning Theory.

  • Proficiency with eLearning authoring software (e.g., Articulate Storyline or Rise) is required.

  • Experience in the healthcare sector, including retail pharmacy, pharmaceutical, and/or hospital settings, is advantageous.

  • Required proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud software (e.g., Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop).

  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and web conferencing tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams).

  • Familiarity with the administrative functions of a Learning Management System is a plus.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage audiences and effectively convey information and key messages.

  • A customer-focused mindset with strong teamwork, planning, analytical and customer service skills.
