Current Need

The Sr Director of Cybersecurity, Architecture and Strategy will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of advanced cybersecurity strategies, with a particular focus on zero trust architecture and complex system integration. This role requires a visionary leader with extensive experience in cybersecurity, strategic planning, and the ability to manage and integrate diverse security technologies across complex enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities:

What You’ll Do:  

Strategic Leadership: 

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy aligned with business goals, focusing on zero trust principles and advanced integration techniques. 
  • Lead the design, implementation, and management of a zero trust architecture to enhance security posture. 
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate cybersecurity into overall business strategy and operations. 

Security Architecture Governance:

  • Establish and lead the Security Architecture function, including governance frameworks, architecture review boards, and secure design principles.
  • Define and maintain secure architecture patterns for:
    • Networks (e.g., segmentation, micro-perimeters)
    • Endpoints and Devices (e.g., EDR, MDM)
    • Applications (e.g., secure SDLC, threat modeling)
    • Cloud Environments (e.g., multi-cloud security, CSPM)
    • Data Protection (e.g., encryption, DLP, data classification)

Collaboration and Enablement:

  • Partner with IT and business units to embed security into technology initiatives from inception.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing team of security architects and engineers.

Zero Trust Implementation: 

  • Oversee the deployment of zero trust models across the organization, ensuring secure access to all resources. 
  • Implement robust authentication and authorization mechanisms, continuously monitoring and adapting to new threats. 
  • Educate stakeholders on zero trust principles and their importance in protecting organizational assets. 

Complex Integration: 

  • Manage the integration of complex security solutions across diverse platforms and technologies. 
  • Ensure seamless interoperability between existing systems and new security technologies. 
  • Address integration challenges, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations while enhancing security measures. 

Team Leadership and Development: 

  • Lead and mentor a team of cybersecurity professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence. 
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and support professional development for team members. 
  • Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team and across departments. 

Risk Management and Compliance: 

  • Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify and mitigate potential threats. 
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices. 
  • Develop and maintain incident response plans, conducting regular drills and updates as needed. 

Stakeholder Communication: 

  • Communicate cybersecurity strategies, initiatives, and risks to stakeholders, including executive leadership, board members, and external partners. 
  • Provide regular updates on the state of cybersecurity and progress towards strategic goals. 

Minimum Requirements

Typically requires 13+ years of professional experience and 6+ years of diversified leadership, planning, communication, organization, and people motivation skills

Critical Skills

  • Minimum of 13 years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 6 years in a leadership role. 
  • Proven experience in implementing zero trust architectures and managing complex system integrations. 
  • In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, standards, and best practices (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001). 
  • Strong understanding of network security, identity and access management, cloud security, and endpoint protection. 

 Additional Skills 

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent are highly desirable. 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Security, or a related field OR related experience.

Working Conditions

  • Traditional office environment.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$177,200 - $295,400
