Job Title: Senior Professional Principal Architect
Current Need:
McKesson Pharmaceutical and Solutions Services is seeking a dynamic and innovative Senior Principal Architect to join our team. This role is pivotal in driving the architectural strategy and execution that supports our organization's mission to streamline technology, enhance service quality, and deliver business value through modern solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Management:
- Enhance budget and cost transparency for our business partners.
- Identify opportunities to streamline technology by removing redundant assets and solving problems more intelligently.
- Improve architecture quality to reduce project waste and increase completion rates.
- Develop strategic plans to sunset outdated hardware, including AS400 systems.
Quality Assurance:
- Elevate service quality for stakeholders across the organization.
- Lead programs to enhance architectural talent and skills within McKesson Pharmaceutical Solutions & Services.
- Establish a PSAS architecture review board to ensure alignment with enterprise standards.
- Actively engage in the Enterprise Architecture review board to drive standard practices across McKesson Technology.
- Support and achieve an On Time On Budget (OTOB) delivery rate exceeding 80%.
- Ensure uptime of over 99% for critical applications through the PSAS Technology Quality Program.
- Ensure disaster recovery plans are architecturally sounds for our most critical platforms.
Value Creation:
- Drive business value by leveraging data, AI, and Generative AI automation.
- Facilitate faster program delivery through deploying strong SDLC practices across the PSAS portfolio.
- Lead the Enterprise Architecture reviews for McKesson Technology Acceleration Program.
- Champion business streamlining through the deployment of modern AI technologies.
Leadership and Development (ILEAD):
- Inspire teams to rethink and innovate the design and build of technology using modern methodologies and simpler approaches.
- Promote new technological approaches across all architectural teams.
- Mentor and develop the next generation of architectural talent, fostering leadership growth within the organization.
Critical skills required:
- Proven experience as Principal Architect in a large, complex organization
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 15+ years of Technical leadership experience in as a Principal architect with strategy consulting, or innovation leadership in large matrix organizations.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale, cross-functional programs that deliver business and technical outcomes.
- Deep understanding of digital transformation, emerging technologies, and their application in real-world business environments.
- Exceptional leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of technology management, with a focus on cost reduction and efficiency.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and implement quality improvement programs.
- Experience in driving digital transformation and value through technology.
- Excellent leadership skills with a track record of inspiring and developing teams.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively.
- Experience establishing and operating an Architecture review board for a business unit.
- Deep understanding of composable architectures at scale. Thorough experience with large digital products with high scale (i.e. eCommerce & SFDC).
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, Computer Science preferred or relevant professional experience

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
