The Infrastructure Principal Architectrole is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive infrastructure solutions that encompass Compute (including virtualization), Storage/Data Protection, Datacenters, Cloud Computing, and Observability. You will work closely with McKesson Technology cross-functional teams and report directly to the VP of Infrastructure. This role requires an extensive understanding of infrastructure and architecture principles, and the ability to translate requirements into innovative & robust technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of infrastructure solutions that align with business goals and technology strategies.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure architecture blueprints, standards, and best practices for infrastructure platforms.
  • Ensure observability is integrated into infrastructure solutions for proactive monitoring and management.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Provide expert guidance to the infrastructure team and other technical staff.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance infrastructure capabilities and performance.
  • Collaborate with the cyber security team to ensure that infrastructure solutions comply with security standards and best practices.
  • Participate in the budgeting and planning process for infrastructure projects.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management, providing updates on project status and infrastructure initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence aligned to McKesson’s i2Care and iLead values to ensure development and growth.

Education/Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; advanced degree or professional certifications in related areas preferred.

Minimal Requirements & Skills:

  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in infrastructure architecture and design.
  • In-depth knowledge of architecture principles and methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of Azure cloud and compute platforms (servers, virtualization), storage & data protection technologies, disaster recovery / cyber resiliency and datacenters.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging infrastructure technologies and solutions.
  • Proven experience with observability tools and practices.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols and security principals.
  • Strong leadership and strategic planning skills, with the ability to drive cross-functional projects and initiatives.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with stakeholders at all levels across the organization.
  • Knowledge of ITIL and IT Service Management is a desirable.
  • Relevant certifications in Azure or related technologies are a plus.
  • Good understanding of financial principles and budget practices.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$173,300 - $288,900
