Job Title: Director of Software Engineering - Specialty Distribution E-commerce Platform

Position Summary:

We are seeking an innovative, experienced hands-on  Director of Software Engineering to lead our software engineering team responsible for delivering McKesson's Specialty Distribution E-commerce platform. This pivotal role involves steering the development of cutting-edge e-commerce solutions that enhance our distribution capabilities and improve our customer experiences. The ideal candidate will have a profound knowledge of modern software technologies and a proven track record in e-commerce platform development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a talented software engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technology leadership in detailed architecture and design.   Become the premier technology expert with McKesson for this platform.
  • Accountable for all operational support and platform SLAs
  • Oversee the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), ensuring best practices are followed to deliver high-quality, scalable e-commerce solutions.
  • Architect and implement robust, secure, and efficient software systems using cloud-native technologies and microservices architecture.
  • Drive the adoption of AI and ML technologies to enhance platform capabilities and customer experiences.
  • Ensure the implementation of DevOps and cybersecurity best practices to maintain platform reliability and security.
  • Collaborate with UX designers to ensure best-in-class user experiences across all digital touchpoints.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to align engineering objectives with business goals.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to keep McKesson's e-commerce platform at the forefront of innovation.
  • Mentor and develop engineering talent, promoting professional growth and skill enhancement.

Critical skills & Experience required :

  • Minimum of 10+ years of full-stack software development hands-on experience.
  • At least 3+ years of experience in leading software delivery teams and implementing best practice SDLC.
  • Demonstrated expertise in building e-commerce platforms, cloud-native technologies, and microservices architecture.
  • Proficiency in AI and ML technologies, DevOps best practices, cybersecurity, and both front-end and back-end software languages and libraries.
  • Strong experience with database management and modern software technology stacks.
  • Proven track record in delivering best-in-class UX design.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a strategic mindset.

Physical Requirements: General Office Demands

Candidate must be authorized to work in the U.S., now or in the future, without support from McKesson.

Relocation is NOT budgeted for this position

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$160,000 - $266,600
