We are looking for a highly motivated Senior ITProject Manager to oversee projects involving cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of a product/program from design through delivery. Our Project Managers are leaders in a highly matrixed environment who deal with ambiguity and who provide structure and an environment of accountability to maintain focus on achieving agreed project objectives on schedule and budget. You are a great candidate if you demonstrate high organization, efficient time management, effective communication, and team-oriented focus as well as the ability to work with minimal direction in a fast-paced, continuously evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities

Day to day, the Senior IT Project Manager manages the tasks, dependencies, and risks associated with one or more projects to ensure successful completion and adherence to quality standards, budgetary guidelines, and timelines. Your typical days include the following activities:

  • Manage projects, including identifying requirements, stakeholder involvement, risks, dependencies, deliverables, review and approval processes, and anticipated milestone dates and adjusting throughout the course of the project with proper communication throughout.

  • Collaborate with technical teams to conduct work breakdowns, identify necessary resources, and collect time and complexity estimates.

  • Clarify and refine project objectives, acceptance criteria, budget, and work plan with technical teams and leaders.

  • Develop and maintain project governance and project management documentation, including project plans, schedules, communication, risk registers, status updates, critical paths, etc.

  • Communicate blockers, risks, recommendations, and escalations to leadership and stakeholders, proactively and consistently, to ensure needs are met and expectations are aligned.

  • Align with Product Management teams to accurately represent business objectives and communicate project status in terms of business objectives.

  • Work collaboratively with other Project Managers to evolve best practices and to be a positive and helpful member of the team.

Minimum Requirement

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.

Critical Skills

  • 7+ years of senior project management experience leading IT projects

  • 5+ years in the healthcare industry with knowledge of the medical business processes, operations, and tools, basic knowledge of EHR technology, and healthcare data and analytics

  • Previous digital program (Portals, mobile..etc) implementation experience

  • Certification and practical experience in Agile, Lean/Six Sigma, and/or PMP

Additional Skills

  • Outstanding organization, time management, and prioritization skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication and customer/stakeholder management skills

  • Great listening ears to understand what is and isn’t being said

  • Practiced skill at managing multiple initiatives and work streams in parallel

  • Independent drive to become a subject matter expert in the technologies that this position supports, such that the project manager can identify gaps, exposures, and contradictions in the plan and proactively rectify them

  • Natural comfort with taking the lead and respectfully guiding team members to achieve success

  • A knack for finding common ground and positive outcomes in difficult situations

  • Strong initiative to understand new situations or complex tools, ask thoughtful questions, and seek better ways of working and communicating

  • A genuine passion for learning new tools, processes, and formats

  • Positive and team-focused attitude, always

  • Detailed understanding of and experience with Agile project planning and management methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Scaled Agile, Kanban), workflow process documentation, and operational improvement.

  • Advanced skills with technology-focused Project Management tools including Atlassian and Microsoft Office Suite

This is a REMOTE work location ideally based in Eastern or Central United States.  You can expect some occasional travel (up to 30%).

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$116,600 - $194,300
