About the Role:
The HCM Enterprise Architect is a strategic technology leader responsible for defining and governing the architecture of Human Capital Management (HCM) systems across the enterprise. This role ensures technology solutions support HR business objectives, enable scalability, and maintain alignment with enterprise-wide architecture standards. The architect will play a critical role in driving digital HR transformation initiatives, integrating cloud-based HCM platforms, and optimizing HR business processes through scalable, secure, and future-ready solutions..
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Architecture & Road mapping
- Develop and maintain the HCM enterprise architecture roadmap aligned with business strategies and enterprise IT standards.
- Define current and future-state HCM architectures, identifying capability gaps and proposing transformation initiatives.
- Partner with HR, IT, and business leaders to establish a multi-year HCM systems modernization strategy.
Solution Design & Implementation
- Lead end-to-end solution design for HCM platforms (e.g., Workday, SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM), timekeeping systems, and workforce analytics platforms.
- Ensure architecture addresses key non-functional requirements such as scalability, performance, compliance, and cybersecurity.
- Guide data model design for HR master data management, employee lifecycle, and organizational structures.
Technology Leadership & Governance
- Serve as the principal advisor and technical authority on HCM technologies, integrations, and architecture decisions.
- Define architectural principles, standards, and patterns specific to the HR technology domain.
- Conduct technology evaluations and make recommendations on new tools to enhance HR capabilities (e.g., AI-driven talent insights, automation tools).
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with HR, Legal, Security, IT Operations, and Finance teams to deliver integrated HCM solutions.
- Translate complex business needs into architectural blueprints and actionable roadmaps.
- Mentor and guide development and project teams on architecture best practices.
Compliance, Risk & Optimization
- Ensure HCM systems adhere to data privacy, security, and regulatory compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Conduct architecture reviews, system audits, and technical risk assessments.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce technical debt, and optimize system performance.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Human Resources Technology, or related field.
- Master’s degree preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 8-10 years in IT, with at least 5 years in an enterprise architecture in HCM systems architecture role.
- Demonstrated experience with enterprise-grade HCM platforms (Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM, ADP, UKG).
- Proven track record of leading complex HCM transformation programs in large, matrixed organizations.
Technical Skills
- Deep understanding of HR data models, employee lifecycle, time & attendance, payroll, benefits, and talent management systems.
- Expertise in API integration, middleware platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, Dell Boomi), and data pipelines.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) and SaaS security considerations.
- Proficiency in architectural modeling tools and frameworks (e.g., ArchiMate, TOGAF).
Soft Skills
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication for both technical and executive audiences.
Certifications (Preferred)
- TOGAF or similar enterprise architecture certification.
- Relevant certifications in HCM platforms (e.g., Workday Pro, SAP Certified Application Associate).

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
