The Specialist, Network Systems Engineering will be responsible for managing and enhancing the security of our network infrastructure. This role includes monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security incidents, as well as implementing and maintaining security tools and protocols. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a strong understanding of network security principles and practices.This candidate will be a part of an on-call rotation for tier 2 support and perform other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze network traffic to identify and mitigate potential security threats and vulnerabilities.

  • Implement and manage security tools, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and security information and event management (SIEM) solutions. 

  • Conduct regular security audits and assessments to ensure compliance with security policies and regulations.

  • Respond to security incidents and breaches, conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.

  • Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and documentation.

  • Collaborate with IT and business teams to design and implement secure network solutions.

  • Stay current with emerging security threats and technologies, providing recommendations for improvements.

  • Experience with working and resolving issue tickets.

  • On-call rotation for tier-2 support.

Minimum Qualifications:

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Relevant certifications, such as CCNA, CCSA, CCNP, CCSP, SANS, or CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+ are a plus.

Critical Skills:

  • 4+ years' experience as a Network Systems Engineer, Security Analyst, or similar role.

  • Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems.

  • 4+ years' experience with one or more database technologies (e.g. SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres)

  • 4+ years' experiencewith network hardware and software, includingCisco, F5,Palo Alto, or equivalent.

  • In-depth knowledge of network security protocols and technologies, such as VPNs, firewalls (Palo Alto/Cisco), and encryption.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.

  • Experience with security tools and platforms, including SIEM, IDS/IPS, WAF, DLP and vulnerability management systems.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$89,400 - $149,000
