The candidate will work on a team interacting with all aspects of the business including external customers to support the BI platform, design data models for new products, analyze data, and build reports and dashboards. The ideal candidate should have a data engineering focus with excellent communication and troubleshooting skills. The BI Developer will focus mainly on our on-prem IBM Cognos platform and will also assist as we move systems over time to new cloud Power BI Databricks platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Will start as secondary IBM Cognos administrator and move to primary when fully trained

  • Perform routine system maintenance like patching and reinstalling Cognos occasionally when rebuilding systems (Dev, QA, Prod)

  • Work closely with IT team to perform system maintenance

  • Will serve as technical project lead providing leadership, mentoring, and work guidance to less experienced personnel.

  • Capture and analyze requirements to develop and document designs in a business intelligence/data warehouse environment

  • Work closely with Business Analysts, Product Managers, and end users to understand business rules and interpret data

  • Manage report security & distribution by working with data source owners to authorize groups or individuals can access data

  • HIPAA compliance filtering, which limit report users to only what is required for their job or role

  • Troubleshooting and problem solving for production issues and end user inquiries.

  • Participate in after-hours support as needed

  • Work with team to build out new cloud Power BI platform

Minimum Qualifications:

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience

Candidate must be based in the metropolitan area of our hub city Columbus, OH. Position will primarily allow for remote working, but candidate must reside in the Columbus, OH area and be willing to come into the office from time to time for key meetings and face time.

Education:

  • 4-year degree

Critical Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years of strong IBM Cognos Analytics development experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of IBM Cognos Administration

  • Minimum of 3 years’ working experience with Oracle 12c/19c

  • Minimum of 3 years’ working experience in an open source environment (Oracle, Red Hat Linux,OpenLDAP).

  • Experience installing and testing Cognos patches

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong data modeling experience with Oracle and Framework Manager

  • Experience with Cognos tools such as Report Studio, Query Studio, Analysis Studio and Cognos Connection

  • Experience building complex reports, dashboards, and scorecards

  • Experience analyzing data and interpreting results

  • Strong technical, SQL, analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving abilities

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Advanced data troubleshooting skills

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Comfortable working interactively with Developers, Product Managers, Account Managers, Customer Support, and external customers

  • Great attention to detail

Additional Knowledge:

  • Experience usingMotioproducts

  • Experience with the IBM Cognos Java SDK is preferred

  • Familiarity with Perl,Javascript, HTML, XML, ETL, and Shell Scripting

  • Experience with MicroStrategy

  • Experience with Tableau in the cloud

  • Experience with Power BI

  • Experience with Databricks

  • Familiar with Jira and Confluence

  • Familiar with pharmacy real-time transaction standards

  • Familiar with pharmaceutical manufacturer data and marketing methods

Starting Pay is between $115,000 to $120,000 based on skills and qualifications for this role in Columbus OH

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. $100,100 - $166,900
