Job Description:
As an Information Protection and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing and managing data governance and data loss prevention strategies using multiple DLP solutions. You will work closely with various departments to ensure that data is securely handled, classified, and protected according to industry standards and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement and manage DLP solutions to enhance data governance, data cataloging, and data classification.
Develop, deploy, and manage Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies across the organization to safeguard sensitive information.
Monitor and analyze data activities to detect and respond to potential data breaches or policy violations.
Work collaboratively with IT, Legal, Compliance, and other departments to ensure information protection policies are aligned with regulatory requirements and business needs.
Conduct regular audits and assessments of data security practices and recommend improvements.
Provide training and support to staff on information protection policies and procedures.
Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in data governance and data loss prevention.
Prepare reports and documentation related to data governance and DLP activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.
Critical Experience/Skills:
Experience in data governance, data security, or data loss prevention.
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Purview, Proofpoint, and Symantec DLP solutions.
Strong understanding of data protection regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA).
Experience with data classification, data cataloging, and metadata management.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Experience/Skills:
Relevant certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), or Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience with other information protection tools and technologies.
Familiarity with cloud security and information protection in cloud environments.
