Job Description:

McKesson is seeking an experienced and skilled Director to lead our Storage and Backup team in designing and implementing innovative solutions that drive operational excellence, strategic relationship management, and cost-effective results while ensuring security and compliance. The ideal candidate will also develop and manage budgets, build a high-performing team, and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:  

1.Lead innovation in the design of technology solutions:

  • Develop and maintain storage, and backup technology design standards.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies & trends; and recommend technology solutions to support business requirements.

2. Strive for flawless execution in implementation and deployment:

  • Lead the implementation and deployment of storage, and backup solutions including software and hardware components.
  • Manage storage arrays, servers, virtualizations platforms and related infrastructure.
  • Ensure seamless integration with existing IT systems and applications.

3.Drive operational excellence in management and operations:

  • Oversee McKesson service providers activities related to regular maintenance, upgrades, monitoring, and patching of storage and backup infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Optimize infrastructure resources to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of infrastructure services.
  • Provides insights on storage, and backup performance, capacity utilization and trends.

4.Protect infrastructure and comply with security guidelines:

  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect McKesson from cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Ensure compliance according to McKesson Technology Information Security standards and best practices.

5.Manage strategic relationships with key partners:

  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with technology partners and service providers.
  • Assist Vendor Management Office team with contracts negotiation to ensure favourable terms, compliance with service level agreements (SLAs), and cost-effectiveness.

6.Manage budget expenditure and allocation:

  • Develop annual budget based on business requirements, operational needs and forecasted technology investments.
  • Estimate costs associated with projects / initiatives and ongoing operations including hardware, software, personnel, and external services.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities in operations and through contracts renewals.
  • Provide visibility on cost allocation / spend.

7.Build and lead a high-performing talent team:

  • Recruit, coach and manage a team dedicated to storage, and backup management.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence aligned to McKesson’s i2Care and iLead values to ensure development and growth.

Minimum Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):

Education/Training –

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field; equivalent experience or professional certifications in related areas preferred.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills –

  • 12+ years of professional and management experience in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise storage and backup technology solutions.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles and budget practices.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging infrastructure technologies and solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of storage technologies (SAN, NAS, DAS), and related technologies (Backup, Disaster Recovery).
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, security principles and compliance requirements (i.e. SOX and SOC).
  • Strong leadership and strategic planning skills, with the ability to drive cross-functional projects and initiatives.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with stakeholders at all levels across the organization.
  • Experience in leading & engaging highly diverse team to achieve results.
  • Knowledge of ITIL and IT Service Management is desirable.
  • Excellent negotiating skills and demonstrated skills in managing shared services team
  • Demonstrated ability to constructively influence other people and organizations in order to obtain objectives, goals and balance competing needs
  • Preferably five or more years of experience in large, cross-functional teams influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders effectively across the organization and within complex contexts
  • Experience in various backup technologies and experience in deploying large enterprise scale backup solutions
  • Managing enterprise storage landscape and experience in multiple storage technologies (Emc. NetApp, HO etc.) is a plus
  • Maintains currency on new technologies and platforms and provides direction on what emerging technologies should be assimilated, integrated and introduced within I&O to ensure IT capabilities respond to the needs of the enterprise's strategy.
  • Experience with RFP to establish new technology across enterprise
  • Acts as a trusted advisor, and builds and maintains relationships with other IT leaders and executives to develop a clear understanding of enterprise and BU needs; ensures cost-effective delivery of IT services to meet those needs, and is able to respond with agility to changing industry priorities.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$149,600 - $249,400
