Current Need

We are seeking a visionary and accomplished leader to serve as our Director of Site Reliability Engineering. In this role, you will drive our SRE team to new heights, ensuring the unwavering reliability, scalability, and performance of our critical systems and applications. Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping our SRE strategy, fostering a culture of operational excellence, and propelling continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Visionary Leadership:

    • Inspire and empower a high-performing team of SRE engineers, nurturing their talent and fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.

    • Craft and implement a compelling SRE vision that aligns seamlessly with our overarching business goals and technology roadmap.

    • Establish and champion a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous learning within the SRE team.

    • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization, advocating for SRE principles and promoting cross-functional collaboration.

  • Strategic Planning and Execution:

    • Develop and refine a comprehensive SRE strategy that encompasses monitoring, incident response, capacity planning, and performance optimization.

    • Define and monitor key SRE metrics (SLOs, SLIs, error budgets) to measure success and identify opportunities for enhancement.

    • Proactively identify and mitigate risks to system reliability, leveraging data-driven insights and industry best practices.

    • Prioritize and allocate resources effectively to ensure the successful execution of SRE initiatives.

  • Operational Excellence:

    • Oversee incident management processes, ensuring swift and effective response, resolution, and thorough post-incident analysis.

    • Establish and maintain a robust monitoring and alerting framework to proactively detect and address potential issues.

    • Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize system performance, capacity, and scalability.

    • Champion the adoption of automation and self-service tools to streamline SRE operations and reduce manual effort.

  • Communication and Collaboration:

    • Cultivate a transparent and collaborative environment where information flows freely and diverse perspectives are valued.

    • Communicate SRE goals, progress, and challenges effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    • Partner with product and engineering teams to prioritize reliability work and ensure alignment with business objectives.

    • Represent the SRE team in executive-level discussions, providing insights and recommendations on critical reliability issues.

Minimum Requirements

Typically requires 12+ years of professional experience and 4+ years of management experience.

Critical Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering or related field, with a solid understanding of system architecture, networking, and cloud infrastructure.

  • 5+ years of experience leading and managing SRE teams or similar technical teams.

  • 5+ years of experience with healthcare systems and high volume ordering sys

  • Proven experience in building and scaling SRE programs in a high-growth environment.

  • Familiarity with SRE principles, practices, and tools.

  • Familiar with Dynatrace, Grafana, and similar observability tools

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire high-performing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse stakeholders.

  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, with a proven track record of delivering results in complex environments.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute a compelling vision for SRE.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., MBA, SRE certifications) are a plus.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$137,300 - $228,900
