Current Need

The Senior Solutions Architect will act as the pivotal force behind the automation initiatives for the McKesson Medical Surgical (MMS) business unit, transforming operational efficiency and integrating cutting-edge technologies across the business landscape.  This role requires a combination of applied technical expertise, strategic thinking, and ability to influence, all working harmoniously to usher our organization into the forefront of technological advancements in automation.

In this role, you will be responsible for research, proof of concepts, technical design, hands-on development, and optimization of AI-powered automation systems. Strong collaboration skills are required to work closely with cross-functional teams, including UX Design professionals, AI Center of Excellence (CoE), and Quality Analysts, to deliver intelligent automation solutions that elevate our business processes and outcomes.

Strong cloud development skills and experience with AI and automation technologies will be essential along with the eagerness and ability to quickly learn. With an eye towards innovation and a commitment to excellence, you will need to be able to understand business challenges in order deliver value through highly scalable and available automation solutions.

Position Description

  • Cultivate a culture of excellence, creativity, and continuous improvement within the team. Facilitate growth and development opportunities for team members.

  • Partner with our Portfolio Director to ensure the timely and successful delivery of our solutions according to business needs and objectives.

  • Navigate complex project requirements, timelines, and dependencies to ensure coordinated planning and successful execution.

  • Proactively and independently learns and utilizes new technology, concepts, and procedures as appropriate to project requirements.  Maintains current knowledge of industry technology trends.

  • Captures, documents, and communicates best practices with other McKesson automation departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a subject matter expert and consultant for automation within the organization, providing guidance and problem-solving support to team members as well as other stakeholders.

  • Lead the conceptualization, design, and implementation of innovative automation solutions, using tools like Artificial Intelligence (AI), and cloud microservices to streamline and optimize processes across various business functions.

  • Work closely with UX Design professionals to shape accessible and efficient user interfaces for our automation systems, keeping in mind the needs of various stakeholders and end-users.

  • Collaborate with Quality Analysts to define test strategies, establish quality metrics, and ensure the stability, reliability, and robustness of automation products through rigorous testing and validation.

  • Facilitate training and knowledge sharing sessions for various stakeholders, promoting understanding and efficient use of the deployed automation systems.

  • Remain ahead of the curve in emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in automation. Evaluate and incorporate applicable advancements into our automation strategy to maintain our competitive edge.

  • Work with Project Managers to guide automation projects from the initial concept phase through to completion, ensuring delivery on time and within budget, while also meeting the pre-defined performance parameters.

  • Identify potential risks and challenges in projects and devise efficient mitigation strategies. Act proactively to avoid roadblocks and ensure smooth project execution.

  • Be an active member of the Community of practice, engaging, providing feedback, taking away and implementing actions as needed.

  • Participate in POCs & Hackathons to explore new technologies that meet evolving business requirements.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team, encouraging innovation, efficiency, and collaborative problem-solving.

Minimum Requirements

Typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.

Critical Skills

  • Proven experience in managing complex projects from conception to deployment in a hybrid cloud environment

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in designing, developing, testing, and deploying scalable and supportable end to end solutions

  • Track record in software development, specializing in full-stack applications with a preference for generative AI solutions.

  • Proficiency in utilizing cloud-native services is essential, with a strong preference for Azure, though GCP or AWS experience is also valued.

  • Expertise in containerized application development and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) processes is required.

  • Proficiency in languages such as Python, JavaScript, .NET, and/or Java.

  • Familiarity with modern UI/UX design principles and tools.

  • Experience with testing frameworks and Quality Assurance best practices.

  • Experience delivering technical solutions for internal and external customers.

  • Experience in security and compliance, with a focus on implementing best practices and ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations.

  • Experience with Agile, Lean Six Sigma (or local equivalent) principles.

  • Professional Development: Continuous engagement with industry seminars, workshops, or courses related to automation and process optimization.

Additional  Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience.

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential issues.

  • Experience with Databricks, with a strong ability to leverage its capabilities for data analytics and processing

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Relevant cloud certifications in AI Engineering, Solutions Architect, or Developer tracks would be advantageous

Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related field or equivalent experience

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.
