Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Biopharma and Provider Technology, the Lead Architect – Biopharma and Provider Technologies, will be responsible for the definition and documentation of Solution Architecture for a portfolio of applications supporting our Biopharma and Provider Solutions Business.  The ideal candidate will have experience designing and guiding the implementation of SaaS, Standard Web and Legacy Client-Server Applications into complex corporate infrastructure.

While this is not a hands-on coding role, ideal candidates will have direct experience as a developer and be able to guide implementation at the software, network, infrastructure and CI/CD levels, including making appropriate technology selections for a range of technical services in a diverse and integrated health care landscape.  They will also be well versed in core information security and security engineering principles.

While this role is an individual contributor (non-management), there is a great deal of leadership required to engage various IT functional groups and guide analysts and developers. Our Lead Architect will engage with key business stakeholders to understand requirements and craft appropriate solutions in collaboration with Delivery Leads. 

As this role is a key consumer and communicator of ideas, strong communication skills are vital.  You must be able to get information across effectively to audiences of differing technical capabilities and backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define, design and document systems architecture for a portfolio of technology solutions.

  • Maintain and evolve existing legacy solutions.

  • Engage with internal and outsourced/offshore teams to communicate and validate solution design and coordinate implementation.

  • Act as a mentor and coach to Business System Analysts.

  • Work with business representatives and Business Engagement Leads to understand desired solutions and the business problems they solve.

  • Champion the ongoing definition and oversight of Privacy and Compliance best practices within the team.

  • Maintain and enhance internal relationships with corporate IT Organizations and collaboratively drive out joint initiatives.

  • Define and evolve coding standards for each application stack.

  • Monitor MSP-delivered source code for best practices/standards adherence and manage static scanning outcomes.

  • Ensure Security by design concepts are applied to all architectures.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technology field.

  • 5-10 years in a senior technology role.

  • One or more industry relevant certifications – CISSP, MCSE/ASAE, TOGAF, etc.

  • 3+ years working within the Canadian Health Care Domain is preferred.

  • 3+ years in an Architecture position in a large corporate environment.

  • 3+ years software development experience, including OOAD and Web Services.

  • Demonstrable understanding of networking principles and topology, modern cloud infrastructure, virtualization, and legacy client-server architecture.

  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipeline design, containerization and microservice architecture.

  • 2+ years working with Salesforce or other SaaS provider.

Critical Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communicator.

  • Broad understanding of modern and legacy technology solution approaches.

  • Able to express ideas clearly and concisely in appropriate media (PowerPoint, Visio, Word, Excel, etc.).

  • Deep knowledge of current IT Privacy, Compliance, and Information Security concerns.

  • Can apply an adaptable and creative mindset to solution approaches to achieve desired results.

  • Cloud Platform experience (Azure preferred).

Nice to Have:

  • Specific knowledge of Patient Support Program operations.

  • Experience providing services for Pharmaceutical Manufacturers.

  • Experience working with an offshore MSP.

  • Experience with applications running in a Citrix / Virtualized environment.

  • Data modelling experience.

  • Experience with Telephony Systems, especially five9.

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$104,600 - $174,300
