Job Summary

This position is responsible for building McKesson Specialty Pharmaceutical Services by sourcing and implementing market penetration activities, partnering with strategically aligned organizations, and servicing existing partnerships. In addition to building future partnerships, this role plays a key role in strengthening current partnerships and providing additional support through McKesson’s broader suite of services.

This role will thrive within the matrix of the organization and will rely heavily on the support of other key functions throughout the organization, e.g. Data and Analytics, Market Access, Provider Solutions. This role will also require the individual to build and leverage relationships internally within the organization and externally with other key stakeholders in order to be successful.

Section A - Specific Responsibilities

  • Align with the strategic direction of the organization to support long-term goals, commercial business needs and overall department objectives; working with the Senior Director, tactically implement the short-, mid- and long-term strategic direction.

  • Deep understanding of the pharmaceutical environment in order to sustain and grow the current business partnerships by delivering customized solutions for each client.

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the decision-makers within the client community.

  • Formally meet with potential clients and deliver proposals and presentations in order to secure new opportunities and achieve established objectives.

  • Develop strategic insights and actionable recommendations; Collaborate with cross-functional commercial colleagues, key stakeholders to proactively identify opportunities for enhanced performance both on a national and regional basis.

  • Partner with key business functions to develop strategic performance metrics, dashboard and sales performance reports, and advanced analytics for assigned services.

  • Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on business rules each quarter to develop and execute the quarterly business reviews.

  • Regularly report the on-going sales activity and operating results to senior management on a timely basis.

  • Inform all other staff of current sales initiatives to ensure a good understanding of the customer’s needs and actively seek feedback from other staff to ensure that initiatives strategically fit within the business.

  • Actively gather competitive intelligence within the business environment, including client groups, competitors within the industry and government departments.

Section B - General Responsibilities:

  • Proactively provide solutions to partners in response to the changing landscape.

  • Thorough understanding of the business process in order to recommend unique solutions to improve the physician and patient experience.

  • Prepare internal/external presentations.

  • Represent the company at industry events and shows in a professional and competent manner.

  • Strong collaborator throughout the organization with the goal of improving the entire McKesson service offering.

  • Strong adherence to McKesson’s corporate standards and policies, including ethical and health & safety policies.

  • Follow company policies in submitting expenses.

Section C - Position Requirements:

  • An excellent understanding of pharmaceutical industry.

  • Seven (7) years’ experience in roles responsible for direct sales, marketing or patient support programs in a healthcare related company.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; or seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.

  • Strong financial and business acumen and the ability to create and defend a business case.

  • Demonstrated experience working in a cross-functional, matrix organization.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing strategic account strategies and tactics.

  • Demonstrated experience negotiating contracts.

  • Experience in previous Business Development roles considered an asset.

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$104,600 - $174,300
