Job Summary

The Research Operations function within The US Oncology Network partners with practices, Practice Management functions and leaders, and our strategic research partner organizations (e.g., Sarah Cannon Research Institute) to support and grow clinical research programs in our practices.

The Sr. Manager, Research Billing and Finance will serve as a key contributor and leader in research specific financial support and services for USON practices. This role will lead the development of critical research finance resources, policies, procedures, etc. as needed. In addition, this role will be responsible for developing and running research finance and performance reporting. This role will interact with multiple cross-functional stakeholders (Practice Management, Sarah Cannon Research Institute, Practices, others) and functions (Finance, Compliance, Budgets & Contracts, Revenue Cycle, etc.) to address any challenges, support issue resolution, and establish visibility and controls as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support growth of clinical research in The Network by establishing processes, policies, and procedures in research finance and billing practices
  • Design and execute reporting on research financial and operational performance, including discovery of data sources and dashboarding as required and curating executive level and practice-specific analysis as required
  • Develop research billing and finance resources and documentation to support practices in compliant billing (e.g., research billing guides). Requires review of necessary inputs, applicable regulations and guidelines, and physician practice standards
  • Partner cross-functionally to address opportunities for improvement and questions in current processes, documentation, and controls; serve as connection point across organizations for issue resolution and transparency
  • Analyze research financials and agreements (e.g., study budgets, CTA) and support USON specific assessment and recommendations; support and inform forecasting, planning, and reporting for USON research; implement improvement opportunities as required
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed to meet Company goals

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferable within Finance, Accounting, or Clinical field
  • Extensive relevant experience in either clinical trial and research or community oncology practice financials

Critical Skills

  • Strong quantitative and analytical thinking skills with high attention to detail; understanding of financial modeling and experience with financial planning, business process
  • Understanding of FDA and HIPPA regulations, Good Clinical Practice and ICH guidelines in clinical trials, CMS and NCCN guidelines in association with research billing
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team, but also be a self-starter; comfort with ambiguity and able to prioritize efforts across multiple competing threads of work
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written; able to present and discuss issues with senior leaders
  • Timely execution, able to meet aggressive timelines and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; experience with Tableau, Power BI, Essbase, SAP, PeopleSoft a plus

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$103,300 - $172,100
