Ontada is a leading oncology real-world data and evidence, clinical education and provider technology business dedicated to transforming the fight against cancer. Part of McKesson Corporation, we support science through our data, technology, and channels, which accelerate innovation for life science companies, support the education of community oncology providers and advance patient care. Together with our partners, we improve the lives of cancer patients. As an Ontada engineer, you will work towards our core goals in areas such as Clinical Informatics and Common Data Modeling, Clinical Decision Support, our First-in-KLAS electronic health records system, and other areas of oncology technology.  This position relies on cross-team collaboration and work, as an integral part of clinical data solutions.

Position Summary

We are looking for a driven, enthusiastic, agile full-stack software engineer to be part of the team that is transforming the fight against cancer and improving the lives of patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write effective, scalable, reusable, performant, and testable code, and clear documentation

  • Perform code reviews to ensure code quality 

  • Work collaboratively with team members including offshore and share knowledge.

  • Participate in architecture, design and planningsessions

  • Develop design patterns and generalize code to address common use cases. Most importantly, build reuseable and expandable components

  • Help ensure applications maintain seamless performance and adherence to KPIs and SLAs

  • Implement data security and data protection within PHI (Protected Health Information) environment 

  • Stay abreast of modern technologies and practices, innovate, and collaborate

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent and 4+ years of relevant experience.

Current Stack

  • Java Microservicesutilizing Spring, Spring Boot and Spring Batch.  JavaScript, TypeScript, React

  • RESTful services 

  • FHIR standard integrations (SMART on FHIR, HL7 standards)

  • PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB knowledge helpful 

  • Kubernetes/Docker & Azure 

Critical Skills

  • 5+ years' experience in Java development

  • 2+ years using Java frameworks such as Spring / Spring Boot.  Knowledge of Microservice architecture and best practices.

  • Knowledge of database experience and SQL (preferably PostgreSQL)

  • Experience with RESTful API development including JSON structures, endpoint negotiation

  • Familiarity with front-end technologies and language including JavaScript, TypeScript and React libraries.

  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker and Kubernetes) and basic cloud platform architecture and services (Azure preferred).

  • Knowledge of industry CI/CD methodologies, Agile and unit testing.  Familiarity with AI developer tools (Copilot) a plus.

  • Experience with Healthcare data (HIPAA framework), knowledge of FHIR standard integrations (HL7, SMART protocols)preferred but not required

Education/

B.S. degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field

Working Conditions

  • Primary Location – Work at home, US based  (limited locations)

  • Occasional travel (1x or 2x/year) to onsite meetings

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$105,200 - $175,300
